Popular Years

2013-2015 Honda Civic

Beginning with the 2012 model, Honda introduced the ninth generation of the Honda Civic. This generation featured a completely redesigned exterior that made the vehicle sleeker and more aerodynamic.

As for tech options, the ninth generation Civic is an ideal daily driver. Technology options found standard on the 2013-2015 Honda Civic coupe includes the following standard features:

  • A rearview camera with guidelines
  • An Intelligent Multi-Information Display
  • A six-speaker audio system with USB audio interface
  • Illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls

On upper trims such as the 2013-2015 Honda Civic EX-L, you'll find more premium features such as heated seats, auto on/off headlights, a power moonroof, and much more.

2016-Present Honda Civic

The 2016 Honda Civic marked the beginning of the vehicle's tenth generation. The new generation Civic featured a redesigned exterior. However, it was the interior of the vehicle that saw the greatest changes. For the 2016 Honda Civic, Honda replaced the Civic's instrument cluster with a digital cluster that is fully customizable, allowing drivers to select for the information they want to be displayed. The heart of this new digital instrument cluster is a sleek 7-inch LCD screen that is positioned behind the steering wheel in the driver's line of sight.

The 2017 Honda Civic, for example, you can look forward to standard features such as:

  • A multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines
  • Auto on/off halogen headlights
  • Automatic climate control
  • A five -inch color LCD touchscreen
  • Bluetooth® connectivity

All of these features and many more can be found on the LX trim of the 2017 Honda Civic. On the Touring trim - the top Trim level for the 2017 Honda Civic - you'll get features such as an automatic dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear heated seats, a 10-speaker premium audio system with an included subwoofer, and much more.

For those searching for a sleek and stylish daily driver that still clocks in at a budget-friendly price point, the 2016-2018 Honda Civic goes above and beyond. There's a lot to like about this timeless car, and there are plenty of good reasons why it has remained one of the most popular cars on the road.

Hot hatch that is a fuel sipper

First, I was a truck guy. I stepped out of a diesel F-250 and into a hatch because I was looking at a commute of over 150 miles a day. I was looking around at smaller vehicles because I wanted something with reasonable fuel economy and comfort. I am a tall guy, at over 6' and 200+lbs... small cars generally feel like sardine cans to me. The car as exceeded my expectations on all marks. I log my fuel mileage at every fillup, the car claims my average fuel mileage is 42MPG, my log shows an average across all tanks of 40 MPG. I have to admit, it took two weeks of tuning driving habits to optimize my mileage, I stepped from 80MPH to 65 MPH with a sample size of at least two tanks. 70 MPH is the sweet spot between economy in fuel and time.

Pros

  • Fuel Economy: 40 MPG at 70, 42MPG at 65
  • Ride and Handling: Sporty, easy to drive, and fun.
  • Power: The turbo kicks in and you have all the power you want to get on the freeway.

Cons

  • Technology and Entertainment: The honda radio's bluetooth module freezes.
  • Cabin Noise: My wife complains of road noise on the passenger side.
  • Weather Versatility: It likes to push corners on ice.

good car at more than fair price

this is my daily driver, it my not be as nimble or as fast as my other civic, which has a k20 swap and is heavily modified. But being an almost 3000 lb car it's actually pretty nimble, it has great gas mileage and unlike my other civic has air conditioning( I've been driving without it for so long I've literally forgotten the convenience.) It also looks great it was well kept by all of the owners who've had it, which might not have been for that long but a lot can happen to a car in a couple of months.

Pros

  • Cost to Maintain: its not expensive to maintain, being a honda all it really needs are oil changes and maybe tores when they wear
  • Fuel Economy: it's great on gas.
  • Reliability: hasn't left me stranded and runs very smooth.

Cons

  • Visibility: you can see fine. the only reason im putting this here is because its lower to the ground the visibility is actually pretty bad in traffic because the majority of people are driving SUV's they pull up behind with their lights on and the amount of light that reflects in the the car is literally blinding I hate it so much I have to stop myself from pulling the other person out of there care for pulling up too close.
  • Cabin Noise: I got used to cabin noise in all of my older civics even with stripped interior the cabin noise wasn't ridiculous. But this civic has a good bit of cabin noise especially with highway driving. it's loud enough you cant hear music when the volume is between 10-17.
