The Honda Passport is praised for its interior and cargo space, smooth handling, and solid V6 power. However, recurring concerns include fuel economy, overly complex technology, and inconsistent seat comfort. While its reliability and ride are strong points, technology malfunctions and higher maintenance costs are noted as downsides.
The sufficiently long wheelbase and four very large radius wheels of a sport model, Certainly, it was properly priced and would not break your pocket to own it. I consider this SUV is roomy enough to enjoy the ride while meeting the basic transportation need.
Due sufficiently long wheel base and superior suspensions and large radius wheel, can offer super ride feel on the paved roads . I saw it has independent double-wishbone suspension and with torsion bar in the rear.
Given an ample HP (278) for a light SUV, its V6 offers a smooth ride that no sedan can match (as based on my experience of on three brands of cars that I previously owned)
When thinking of safety, I believe I would have a better chance of survival in a collision with any vehicles that are in the same class or smaller due to sufficient number of airbags, including side airbags. I had been tested to stop from a highway speed (65-70 mph) to avoid a crash successfully as a sudden reaction as required.
The only thing or two that I do not like much of the overuse of LCD screens for instrumentation, but that is where they display Text Warning Message effectively during some time-critical moments, and also for infotainment displays.
One minor 'dislike' is the 'too-high' revolutions of the engine when needing to pickup pace but need not that high, but need to be gradual under the control of the driver's foot, and due to being electronic driven so it just jolted into much a higher level than necessary, and that is not really for a 'sporty' performance but rather be considered an over-reaction 'mistake' of controlling the engine throttle and resulting in so much noise and that almost sound like a tractor-trailer truck. May be they should go back to the mechanical cable for a better incremental control by the foot, as in many older cars for controlling the engine throttle. Certainly, I learned a little more feedback with the S/W display of the tachometer reading and I learned to slow down this high level of opening the engine throttle in order to reduce the noise level.
Seat comfort is from average to below average as comparing to the experience that I have on the cars and SUV that I had previously owned. They really have a 'budget job' on this model.
Honda makes very good vehicles.
Lots of room for our dog crate and camping gear.
18 mph when gas prices became over $5/gal.
Can't figure out how to use the technology. Car (used) came with no reference guide book.
the car is a very comfortable ride. The seats adjust several ways. it is comfortable whether riding in the front or back seats.
I like all the safety features. Lane changing warning system. Back up camera, accident mitigation system.
While the seats are very comfortable if you are 5’1” like myself reaching the gas pedal is a stretch.
