About the Mercedes-Benz B-Class

Vehicle Summary

While the Mercedes-Benz B-Class has been in continuous production globally since 2005, it wasn't until 2014 when an all-electric version of the B-Class (the B-Class Electric Drive) was introduced. This electric version of the popular Mercedes-Benz compact executive sedan features a four-door hatchback design, five-passenger seating capacity, and a 132-kilowatt electric motor with 28kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, it still boasts many of the luxurious features you'd expect from a Mercedes-Benz, including premium upholstery, standard navigation system, and 10-way power front seats across every model year. Beginning with the 2016 model year, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class was renamed the B250e, though not much changed beyond the name. This all-electric vehicle may be an excellent choice for drivers who are looking for less stops at the pump without sacrificing a luxurious ride in the process.

Q: What does B Class mean?

A: In Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the letter class refers to the relative size of the vehicle. For example, the A-Class is the smallest vehicle (a subcompact executive car) that Mercedes-Benz makes, whereas the S-Class refers to a full-size sedan. The B-Class line specifically refers to a compact executive vehicle with a four-door hatchback body style.

Q: How big is the boot on a Mercedes B Class?

A: The interior space offered in the Mercedes-Benz B Class is the same across all model years at 21.6 cubic feet of trunk space and a maximum of 51.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

Q: How long does it take to charge electric drive?

A: Charging times can vary and will depend largely on the electric source; for example, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive can be recharged using a standard 110-volt wall outlet, but this can take up to 30 hours. When charged at a dedicated charging station with a 240-volt charger, this can be done in as little as 3.5 hours. Please refer to you user manual and follow the instructions for charging your Mercedes-Benz B-Class vehicle.

Q: How far can the B-Class go on a charge?

A: The 2014-2017 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive (known as the B250e for the 2016 and 2017 model years) with 132 kilowatt electric motor and 28kWh battery pack gets an EPA-estimated, combined MPGe of 87 miles.1

1Range figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Range will vary based on things like battery age, vehicle condition, and driving conditions. Battery range may decrease with time and use. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See

The Mer-Tesla

It gets about 100miles on a charge Depending on how you drive it. It also has a Tesla Drive unit and batteries which makes it reliable. The fit and finish is awesome if you are over 6 foot the driving position and seats are awesome and it’s just an all-around good package. It even has a sport mode and is really quick off the line.
