About the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Vehicle Summary

The 2015 Nissan Pathfinder is a midsize crossover SUV that works well for couples, small families and larger families, with a third-row seat that is sometimes missing in other manufacturer's midsize SUV crossovers. It features the only reclining third-row seat in its class, and the second-row seat has up to five inches of sliding room, making it easier for your basketball team to stretch their legs on the way to the game. It also offers a fuel-efficient ride, with the front-wheel drive version reaching an EPA estimate of 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, and the four-wheel drive version reaching an EPA estimate of 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway1. The four-wheel drive option allows you to select full-time two-wheel drive, full-time four-wheel drive or an auto selector in which the vehicle's computer switches between modes as needed, providing additional traction in times of need while switching back to the more fuel-efficient two-wheel drive when roads are clear.

1 Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See fueleconomy.gov.

FAQ

Q: Is a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder a front-wheel drive vehicle?

A: Though all trim levels come with front-wheel drive standard, all trim levels also come with optional four-wheel drive, making it fairly easy to upgrade without having to spend a lot of time trying to find one specific trim level. All drivetrains include hill start assist features, while the four-wheel drive options include hill descent control, a boon if you're towing a trailer.

Q: Do all 2015 Nissan Pathfinder models have third-row seating?

A: Unlike some midsize crossover SUVs, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder has third-row seating in all of its trim levels. However, that's not where it stops. It also features accessible storage, even when the third-row seats are in place, as well as the option to recline the third-row seats, a feature that is exclusive to the Pathfinder in the 2015 midsize crossover SUV category. This makes it easy to pack everyone in, with no arguments about who's in the middle or the last row.

Q: What size tires are on the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder?

A: The 2015 Pathfinder comes with two different wheel and tire sizes, depending on your vehicle's trim level. The S, SV and SL trim levels include 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and takes P235/65R18 all-season tires, and the Premium trim level includes 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels using P235/55R20 all-season tires.

Q: Are there new features on the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder?

A: During the 2015 model year, the Nissan Pathfinder added a blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, as well as a 120-volt outlet, making it easier to keep everyone happily entertained during the drive. The Platinum also added these features, and a dual panorama moonroof was a popular option for second- and third-row passengers.

Q: How much can a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder haul?

A: Unlike many crossover SUVs, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder hasn't given up its ability to haul some serious cargo. Rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, this crossover SUV hasn't forgotten its hard-working roots.2

2 Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.

Generation Overview

Across the fourth generation, the Nissan Pathfinder returned to the unibody approach, much as it had in the second generation, abandoning the body-on-frame approach that other truck-based SUVs were using. With sales beginning in October 2012 with the 2013 model year, it was initially introduced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Featuring a 3.5L V6 engine capable of producing 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque, the fourth generation was a lighter-weight version of the third generation, a move made to help improve fuel efficiency. Available only in 2014, Nissan manufactured a hybrid model which was pulled from production for the 2015 model year, featuring a 2.5L supercharged inline-four engine that was paired to an electric motor and lithium-ion battery, located under the third-row seat with no loss to storage or passenger room. The 2014 model year also saw the addition of a tech package including Bose® audio components and a CVT transmission.

Great compromise!

Big but not too big and very comfortable ride. The interior has everything a luxury car has. I have had the Infiniti 56 (two of them) - the 500 series Mercedes SUV this has been a good compromise for retirement and cost effective without losing the features I enjoy in my auto.

Pros

  • Braking: Quiet and on tap
  • Ride and Handling: Easy and comfortable
  • Interior Space: Roomy and has all accessories

Cons

  • Cabin Noise:
  • Fuel Economy:

Perfect Family Mover!

The third row seat is a wonderful option to have, especially if you want to drag your teenage kids everywhere. It gives them the privacy they need from the parents and other siblings. It fits adults too, in case you need to have friends and family in the car.

Pros

  • Value: It has many standard features not usually expected in this price range
  • Interior Space: It is quite spacious

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: It gets a little noisy
  • Technology and Entertainment: No Bluetooth capability, no back-up camera which would have been handy on a big SUV

- Jet Babasa, 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

We LOVE this car!

Can’t say enough good things about this car. It’s a comfortable ride even with 7 people. It’s just fantastic. Took it to Arizona this summer and it handled the heat beautifully. You won’t be sad if you buy a pathfinder.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: It’s handles tight curves really well.
  • Cabin Noise: It’s very quiet
  • Fuel Economy: Better than I expected for an SUV

Cons

  • Cargo Space: It’s small when all seats are up. Totally expected though, so not a huge deal.
