Wonderful car and great price!

2016 Nissan Rogue KAREN BURTON - SOUTH JORDAN, UT 06/30/2016

It's a great car to get after having a van most of my life. It rides well and was an excellent price. It sits 5 very comfortably.

Overall great car except for the seat

2016 Nissan Rogue Susan Miller - Ellicott City, MD 02/19/2017

The newer models have a different seat. The power seat doesn't allow a tilt up in the front. It's very uncomfortable. Otherwise, the car drives great and looks great. I won't buy another Nissan Rogue simply because the seat causes back pain. I've driven many types of cars with no problem. This one needs a seat redesign.

2016 Nissan Rogue Overview

The 2016 Nissan Rogue is a practical, compact crossover SUV that became Nissan's best-selling vehicle for this model year. This is a five-door crossover that is perfect for singles and young families alike. The 2016 Nissan Rogue was chosen as the "Top Safety Pick" of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It was introduced for the 2008 model year and has grown in popularity since. Two generations of the Rogue exist, the first starting with the 2008 model and the second with the 2014 edition. If you are in search of a used crossover that is versatile, affordable, and economical to drive, the 2016 Nissan Rogue is an excellent choice.

016 Nissan Rogue History

Nissan began production of the Rogue in 2007 after it debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January of that year. First-year sales were just over 17,000 units. Since then, sales of the Rogue have risen every single year, peaking with a record 330,000 units for the 2016 model year.

  • The 2008 Rogue made its U.S. debut with three trim options, the S, SV, and SL.
  • The 2010 model received the "Automotive Best Buy" award from Consumers Digest.
  • The second-generation Rogue made its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
  • The Rogue Select was sold in 2014 and 2015 model year editions.
  • In 2016, the Rogue became Nissan's best-selling vehicle, with sales rising 15 percent over the previous year.
  • A special "Star Wars" edition was introduced for 2017.

While many attribute the popularity of the 2016 Rogue to its association and marketing tie-ins with the blockbuster film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it should be noted that sales have increased every year since its 2008 model debut. Beyond marketing, you have some very good reasons to select a pre-owned 2016 Nissan Rogue.

How It Drives

The 2016 Rogue is available either in a front- or four-wheel drive edition. It is comfortable to drive as long as expectations aren't for a sports car response or acceleration. The "run-flat" tires on the Rogue don't do it any favors on rougher roads, but the ride is comfortable. The drive compares favorably to its tough competitors in its segment, including Toyota's RAV4 and Honda's CR-V. As a "crossover," it has the driving qualities of both a sedan and a larger SUV.

Used 016 Nissan Rogue Value

If you are researching used 2016 Nissan Rogues, you will find lots of competitors in this space. The Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, Ford Escape, and others are designed to appeal to similar markets. While the original MSRP started at about $23,000 for each of the above, the Rogue gets equal or better gas mileage, has LED daytime running lights, SiriusXM radio, and other features that aren't available on all competitors. It also offers more horsepower than many in its segment, which adds value.

Design & Performance

This five-door compact crossover SUV is designed first and foremost to be practical. Its four-cylinder, inline engine provides about 175 hp, which may not win many quarter-mile races. Its 33 mpg rating on the highway, however, makes your pocketbook the winner. Added features for 2016 include:

  • A lane departure warning system
  • Front collision warning
  • A 360-degree backup camera
  • An object detection warning on the SL trim models

Powertrain & Engine

The 2016 Nissan Rogue is powered by a 2.5L inline-four engine, which produces about 170 hp at 6,000 rpm. It comes in a choice of front- or all-wheel drive models with an XTRONIC two-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission) with OD transmission. That 170 hp puts it at or near the top of its class. Its efficient power plant combined with its XTRONIC two-speed transmission deliver an exceptional mileage rating of 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Even the AWD models deliver an impressive 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The 2016 Nissan Rogue added some style changes. Side panel creases and slight fender flares add a sleek element to the body styling. Windows appear to sweep upwards when viewed front to back. Rear airflow is aided by a small "lip." Inside the Rogue, controls are conveniently positioned.

  • A five-inch touch screen is standard with an upgrade to a seven-inch screen available.
  • Seating provides support for even long outings.
  • Convenient steering wheel controls are easy to use.
  • A third-row seating option is available.

All in all, if you are in search of a used crossover that continues to gain in popularity, gets high ratings, and is both versatile and practical, the 2016 Nissan Rogue deserves a spot on your list.
