Q: What configurations are available for the 2019 Ram 1500?

A: The configurations of the 2019 Ram 1500 include the trim levels, which start with the Tradesman® and then continue with the HFE, Big Horn®, Rebel®, Laramie®, and Laramie Longhorn®, before topping off at the Limited.

Next are the Quad Cab® and the Crew Cab, which is slightly bigger, and the two boxes, which measure five feet and seven inches, and six feet and four inches. Finally, you can choose a front row with either a 40/20/40 bench seat for greater passenger capacity or with two bucket seats and a center console for more convenience.

Possible configuration mixes will vary. For example, the Tradesman can have the Quad Cab, five-foot, seven-inch box, and the standard 40/20/40 bench seat. The Limited only takes the Crew Cab and bucket seats with a console, but can use a cargo bed of any size.

Q: What engine is in the 2019 Ram 1500?

A: You can choose from the following three engines for the 2019 Ram 1500. Any choice includes the eight-speed automatic transmission.

  • The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque generates 305 hp and 269 pound-feet of torque. It is the standard engine on the Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn and Rebel.

  • The 5.7L HEMI V8 with eTorque is available for all trims except the HFE.

A: The EPA-estimated fuel economy varies by the engine you choose. The following assumes you have two-wheel drive and the eight-speed automatic transmission.

  1. The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque gets an EPA-estimated 20 MPG in the city and 25 mpg on the highway1
  2. The 5.7L HEMI V8 goes for an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway1.

Generation Overview

The 2019 Ram 1500 is part of the fifth generation that was completely redesigned for 2019 to 2020. By using advanced materials, such as high-strength steel in the frame, the pickup reduces overall weight by 225 pounds. The number of trims has also been reduced from the previous 11 to only seven.

Arguably the biggest addition to this generation is the 12-inch touchscreen. It forms part of the Uconnect® 4C NAV system that is standard on the Limited trim. This infotainment tech features a customizable home screen that you control by swiping and tapping, pinching and zooming, or by accessing physical controls. Support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay® lets you make phone calls and access text messaging.3

3SMS text message function requires data plan and compatible device.

Function meets fun

We needed a truck but also one that could comfortably fit 2 car seats. this was perfect for that. we wish it had a bigger digital screen & Apple airplay but those weren’t deal breakers.

  • Interior Space: enough space for 2 car seats, and still fit 4 additional people. plus all the space in the truck bed for stuff.
  • Ride and Handling: it rides and handles well. very comfortable for both.
  • Value: we got a great deal on a great truck.

  • Fuel Economy: we knew it wouldn’t be cheap to fill up the tank but with recent inflation the timing of getting a truck this size hasn’t been great on the wallet.
  • Cabin Noise: it’s actually not that noisy on the road. but in town when we’re slowing down the Diesel engine can be noisy. almost like you can hear the downshifting as if it was Jake breaking.
  • Dashboard: as previous mentioned we wish the central display screen was larger and that it had Apple AirPlay.

  • Technology and Entertainment: The 12” screen and large printed words
  • Power: the Hemi gives speed and power like no other.
  • Cabin Noise: I have the comfortability of not hearing the outside noises
