The 2022 XT6 is one of the largest SUVs in Cadillac’s lineup, outdone only by the massive Escalade that is over a foot longer and the Escalade ESV, which is even longer than that. The XT6 is a three-row midsize SUV with seating for up to seven passengers that was introduced in 2020.
For 2022, the XT6 had very few notable changes. A blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning system was added to the standard features list, along with power-folding mirrors and racy red Brembo brake calipers for the Sport trim.
Otherwise, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 returned in much the same form as before, solidifying its place in the class with its unusually accommodating third-row seats. It’s not quite as accomplished as the class-leading Audi Q7, Acura MDX, or Lincoln Aviator, which benefit from better driving dynamics and more luxurious interiors.

Spacious third-row seats: In most three-row SUVs, those rearmost seats are typically smaller and intended for occasional use by smaller child-size passengers. The XT6 bucks that trend by offering rear accommodations that can adequately hold an average-size adult. They may not be as comfortable as they would be in the front or middle rows, but for a short trip the space is just big enough to quell most complaints.
Intuitive infotainment system: The XT6’s infotainment eight-inch touchscreen may be on the small side for a luxury vehicle, but to its credit, the system is well-thought-out and easy to use. Responses to commands are quick and the graphics are sharp. The menus are also well organized and you’ll likely never have to consult the owner's manual. It may lack the wow factor that some rivals have, but we’ll take usability over fashion any day of the week.
Available Super Cruise automated driving: Compared to the various “self-driving” systems found on Tesla vehicles, GM’s Super Cruise is leaps and bounds better for automated driving. It’s only usable on preapproved divided highways and is noticeably smoother and more trustworthy. On a long road trip, Super Cruise can greatly reduce driver fatigue and it remains one of our favorite systems in the industry.
Limited cargo space: One unfortunate side effect of spacious third-row seating is a smaller cargo capacity behind those seats. The XT6 can only hold up to 12.6 cubic feet back there, which is below average for the class. The good news is, if you need more space, the third-row seats will stow quickly because of the power-folding seatbacks.
