Honda sticks with its winning formula for the 2014 CR-V. That means Honda hasn't made any changes to the models, but it doesn't need to when the package is this compelling. Standard equipment is comprehensive from the base trim level up. The LX model starts you off with a rearview camera, keyless entry, cruise control, air conditioning, Bluetooth® connectivity, and Pandora Internet radio among its extensive list of standard equipment. The EX adds alloy wheels, privacy rear glass, and an improved audio system, and the EX-L brings dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and power adjustment for the driver's seat among other upscale features. The only option is whether to add navigation or a rear-seat entertainment package to the top-end EX-L.
Elsewhere in the CR-V range the choice is limited, too. Honda offers just one 185-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which delivers pleasing EPA-estimated fuel economy, if not the most sparkling performance. If you can take it easy on the throttle, the CR-V rides smoothly with decent refinement. Space and comfort are strong virtues for those buying compact crossover SUVs, and the CR-V provides both. The entire package makes for a compelling pick.

Though the 2014 Honda CR-V is a compact SUV, it's capable of carrying more than you might think. Large doors mean it's easy to get kids in and out, and a big rear seat provides more than enough room for passengers. Even a pair of adults will have enough space in the back. There's also 37.2 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seats—and Honda's system to easily collapse the seats (for up to 70.9 cu-ft of luggage room) is ingeniously simple.
When you're ferrying your loved ones, the 2014 Honda CR-V's high level of standard equipment aims to please. The entry-level LX model has air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, and a rearview camera. Passengers will love the Bluetooth® connectivity and the available Pandora® internet radio. Move up to the EX trim for an improved audio system and rear privacy glass to shield little ones from the sun. The top-end EX-L trim's dual-zone climate control will keep everyone cool in the warmer months, while heated front seats will keep you toasty in cold weather. If you're looking for a touch of luxury, you'll appreciate the leather upholstery and driver's seat power adjustment.
Whether you drive on the road or prefer a little more rough and tumble, the 2014 Honda CR-V has you covered. All three trims are available with two or four driven wheels. The AWD model uses an electronically activated real-time system that only engages when needed—meaning it can easily venture onto gravel or tricky terrain.
The 2014 Honda CR-V has a 185-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine that sends power to the wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. Designed for optimum fuel economy, the front-wheel-drive 2014 Honda CR-V achieves an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
If you don't like to shout about what you drive, the understated looks of the 2014 Honda CR-V will appeal. Nine metallic or pearl-finish paint colors enhance its appearance, with distinctive shades like Kona Coffee Metallic, Mountain Air Metallic, and Basque Red Pearl. Alloy wheels add more style to the 2014 Honda CR-V EX and EX-L models.
