2014 Lexus LX 570 review

1. Singular powertrain 

There is one trim and one engine on the 2014 Lexus LX 570, and it's the one you likely want: a 5.7L V8 engine, which generates 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque. That's huge power, and paired with a six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, the LX 570 also manages masterful control, hitting zero-to-60 mph in 7.4 seconds. It can also tow an estimated 7,000 lbs when properly equipped.

On average, the engine will offer an EPA-estimated 14 mpg combined. 

2. All-wheel handling 

Lexus understands that power alone doesn't translate to all-terrain capability. On the 2014 LX 570, the muscular powertrain is housed between a flexible chassis and a smart wheelbase. Standard hardware includes four-wheel drive that is wired through variable torque-sensing software that adapts the driving experience to a variety of terrains. In particular mountainous or rocky landscapes, you can even manually select for the terrain and lock in hill-start assist and/or crawl control aids, which will help you maintain confident handling with a low and steady off-road cruising speed. 

3. Adaptive suspension 

The suspension on the 2014 Lexus LX 570 is so good it deserves its own call-out. On both front and rear wheelbases, you'll find fully independent double-wishbone coil spring suspensions, linked to electronically controlled shock absorbers and stabilizer bars. Practically, that translates to both an intuitive flexibility in the chassis, as well as—and here's the real kicker—an active height control system. With the flip of a few switches below the gearbox, you can raise and lower the ride height depending on the ground clearance and topography.  

4. Luxury styling and comfort 

You can feel the luxury of the 2014 Lexus LX 570 right as you step inside. That's because even though this is a full-sized, eight-passenger SUV, Lexus fitted the chassis with an easy access mode adjustable ride height to make entering and exiting the large vehicle easy on those glutes. Once inside, you'll feel pampered by 12-way driver and 10-way shotgun lumbar power-adjustable seats up front, along with premium leather and mahogany wood trim throughout the cabin. 

5. Immersive entertainment 

In the center console of the 2014 Lexus LX 570 is the flagship Enform touchscreen color infotainment system. For the audiophiles out there, you should look out for the 19-speaker Mark Levinson^® surround sound system, which handles a single-feed, six-disc DVD/CD changer, USB audio input, and Bluetooth^® connectivity. And if you're planning cross-country adventures with the kids, there's also a dual-screen DVD rear-seat entertainment system available on select trims.
