2016 Lexus LX 570 review

1. Immersive entertainment 

The 2016 LX 570 brings with it several significant technology upgrades. There's now a bigger 4.2-inch dashboard information display for the driver, along with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen in the center console. If you're keen on home theatre vibes or want to make the kids happy, look out for the audiophile-grade, 19-speaker Mark Levinson^® sound system as well as the dual-screen rear seat entertainment system with new 11.6-inch screens. 

2. Full-body driver aids 

For an eigh-seat SUV, the 2016 Lexus LX 570 doesn't cut corners on driver aids. Standard on the 2016 model is pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blindspot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. There's also a unique pre-collision system, which can automatically tighten front seatbelts and prime the braking system if a frontal collision is determined as imminent. Finally, there's a new panoramic camera to give you a bird's-eye view of the LX.  

3. Rugged powertrain  

The 2016 Lexus LX 570 comes with a singular 5.7L 383-horsepower V8 engine. New on the 2016 model is an upgraded eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The engine-gearbox pairing produces a controlled 403 lb-ft of torque, and towing ability of an estimated 7,000 lbs, when properly equipped.

On average, the engine gets an EPA-estimate 15 mpg combined. 

4. All-wheel terrain 

On the 2016 LX 570, the muscular engine comes paired with a sophisticated all-wheel drive system. Highway handling is a given, but the LX 570 really shines once you hit the dirt. For those less hospitable terrains, you'll appreciate handling perks like crawl control, hill-start assist, multi-terrain select, adaptive variable suspension, and active height control, which offer torque sensing and chassis flexibility to maintain and optimize traction control.  

5. Interior spaciousness 

Lexus gave the 2016 LX 570 an exterior facelift and slight body extension, which translates to even more space inside. There are three rows and eight seats, with 42.9 inches of legroom in the front, 34.4 inches in the center, and 28.4 inches in the rear. Comfort throughout this full-sized SUV also feels luxurious, with a new-for-2016 climate concierge system that automatically monitors and adjusts temperatures across four climate zones. Upfront, the driver and shotgun passenger will also appreciate a heated steering wheel and heated seats for those long winter months.
