2. Zippy optional engine 

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 offers a pair of engine options to appeal to carrying needs. The base 155-hp 2.0L engine is great for those concerned about cost, but it’s not as invigorating of a drive. If you want decent straight-line speed to go with the CX-5’s agility, the 184-hp 2.5L engine in the Touring and Grand Touring trims is right for you. Plus, according to EPA estimates, this optional engine also delivers up to 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

3. Standard manual transmission 

Manual transmissions aren’t easy to come by in modern vehicles, especially SUVs. However, the 2015 CX-5 remains an outlier with its standard six-speed manual transmission that pairs with the base 2.0L engine. This will help give you a more analog connection with the CX-5, putting you firmly in control of its gear changes so you can maximize its sporty driving characteristics.

Mazda does a great job with its vehicles, giving them sporty-looking bodies that manage to stand the test of time. But Mazda also used plenty of restraint to avoid going over the top with its design, allowing it to age gracefully over the years. 

5. Roomy and comfortable interior 

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 does a great job ensuring everyone’s plenty comfortable in every seating position. Up front, the CX-5’s seats offer plenty of support and grip while giving you a great seating position and 41 inches of legroom. The rear seats are also quite comfortable and well-positioned, but their real claim to fame is the 39.3 inches of legroom they offer, making them suitable for kids and adults.
