Mazda “zoom-zoom” backed up by a new engine
Mazda is well-known for its “zoom-zoom” personality, which has added a dose of sportiness to all its models — even its SUVs. While these are far from performance vehicles, they all handle well for what they are, including the 2014 Mazda CX-5. While you’ll love its handling and precision steering, the 2014 CX-5 also picked up a new, larger engine: a 2.5L four-cylinder with 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. This new engine gives the CX-5 Touring and Grand Touring a little extra zip to go with its precise handling.

5 reasons to buy the 2014 Mazda CX-5
1. Engaging driving experience
Compact SUVs aren’t necessarily known for being fun to drive, but Mazda does things differently. With the brand’s zoom-zoom personality engrained in its DNA, the 2014 CX-5 will surely please you with its tight suspension and positive steering feedback. So, whether you’re carving up curvy back roads or just heading into town on your daily commute, you’ll always enjoy the trip.
2. Two engine options
The 2014 Mazda CX-5 offers a pair of engine options to appeal to carrying needs. You can go the lower-cost route and stick with the standard 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque or opt for the 2.5L four-cylinder in the Touring or Grand Touring trims. This new-for-2014 engine pumps out a respectable 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Both engines deliver when it comes to thrifty performance. The base engine gets an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined, and the 2.5L engine gets up to 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.
3. Manual transmission comes standard
Manual transmissions are a dying breed, but the 2014 CX-5 is holding onto tradition. The base model with the 2.0L engine comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. This row-your-own interface will help give you a better connection to this SUV, allowing you to control its sportiness better and bend it to your will.
4. Stylish looks
Mazda has long designed fantastic-looking vehicles that stand the test of time. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 is no exception to this trend. With a sporty look that’s sure to garner a few stares, it still manages just the right amount of restraint to avoid taking its styling too far. The 2014 Mazda CX-5’s looks will surely keep you pleased for many years.
5. Supportive front seats
The 2014 Mazda CX-5 isn’t one to let your comfort be an afterthought. The CX-5’s front seats offer plenty of support and grip while giving you a great seating position. The rear seats are also impressive, particularly because they offer 39.3 inches of legroom, making them suitable for kids and adults.
