2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 review

1. Great powertrain for commuters 

The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 draws its power from a 1.2L three-cylinder engine that delivers 78 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque and mates to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT that ships power to the front wheels. Of course, the Mirage G4 is no powerhouse, but you’ll appreciate its EPA-estimated fuel-economy ratings of 35 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined with the CVT.

2. City-sized footprint 

Traveling through a crowded city in a big sedan or SUV can be stressful, as their larger footprints make it hard to park and flow in and out of traffic. The Mirage G4 helps solve your crowding and traffic woes with its small footprint. This small platform allows the Mirage G4 to quickly zip in and out of traffic and easily slide into just about any parking space you can find.  

3. Seats four comfortably 

Subcompact sedans aren’t always the most family-friendly models because the interiors can become quite cramped. Despite having such a small body, the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4’s cabin is surprisingly roomy if you’re toting around just four people. You’ll enjoy 41.7 inches of front legroom in front seats, accommodating a wide range of heights. Most surprising are the rear seats, as they have ample room for adults with 37.2 inches of legroom. So, everyone will be comfortable whether you’re hauling the kids to school or carpooling to work with coworkers.  

4. Plenty of options 

The 2018 Mirage G4 is understandably basic in its entry-level trim. Still, it comes with some niceties, such as power windows and door locks, a four-speaker audio system, air conditioning, keyless entry, a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth^® connectivity, and more. If you need more tech, you can move into the SE trim and add the Smartphone Package to get Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ integration. And if you’re an audiophile, you will appreciate the optional 300-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system.  

5. Available manual transmission 

It’s getting harder to find manual transmissions these days — even in entry-level cars. The 2018 Mirage G4 is one of the few that still comes standard with a five-speed manual gearbox. This manual transmission gives you total control over the vehicle’s shift points, so you enjoy a more engaging and connected drive. This also allows you to tap into the limited output of the 1.2L engine more effectively.
