The Polestar 2 is a small luxury EV with an upscale interior and available all-wheel drive

The Polestar 2 receives a number of updates for the 2023 model year, including more horsepower and range for the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. This now stands at an EPA-estimated 249 miles versus 233 miles previously. For more miles per charge, the Polestar 2 is available in a single-motor front-wheel drive and delivers 270 miles of range. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Actual mileage will vary based on things like battery age, vehicle condition and history, driving and charging habits, accessory use, and driving conditions. Battery capacity may decrease with time and use. See fueleconomy.gov for more info. Ventilated front seats are newly available, and a limited-run version called the BST Edition 270 joins the lineup.

To drive, the Polestar 2 is agile and its suspension keeps this EV stable and nicely settled. Passenger room is fine considering its smallish dimensions, but interior storage nooks are in short supply due to a large center battery tunnel that eats up space. A tech highlight of the Polestar 2 is its 11.2-inch infotainment Android-based touchscreen, which has superb graphics and is simple to navigate. This helps counter the simple fact that a number of competitors, including the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, can go much farther for every recharge.

5 reasons to buy the 2023 Polestar Polestar 2

What We Like

Distinctive design: The quirky exterior of the Polestar 2 might be a little polarizing, but it gives this EV a unique look. Its crossover-like ride height will appeal to anyone looking to split the difference between an electric sedan and an SUV.

Classy and high-tech interior: The quality of the materials used in the cabin is upscale and befitting a premium EV. Vegan-friendly seat upholstery is one of the Polestar 2’s more intriguing interior features. The seats themselves are supportive and comfortable during long drives.

Refined driving manners: The straight-line speed of the dual-motor Polestar 2 is pretty thrilling, that’s for certain. But equally impressive is the balanced suspension and direct steering that make this electric sedan enjoyable to pilot in all types of driving situations.

What Needs Improvement

Range lags behind the competition: Given a few more miles of range, the Polestar 2 would make for a much stronger alternative to competing EVs like the Kia EV6 and Tesla Model 3. As it stands, its maximum range figure of 270 miles

is only adequate in this increasingly competitive market.
