1. Capable powertrain 

The singular engine configuration on the 2019 Ram Promaster 3500 is a 280-hp 3.6L V6 paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. That's sizeable power matched with needed control that can manage 260 lb-ft of torque and tow an estimated 5,100 lbs when properly equipped.

2. Payload configurations 

A cargo van looks deceivingly simple from the outside: a box on a frame. While that is technically the case, Ram offers the 2021 Promaster 3500 in multiple sizes. Fitted with the singular 159-inch wide wheelbase and 77.1-inch high roof, you can look out for trims with either a 12-foot or extended 13-foot bed. While the latter will get you more volume of space foot for foot, the regular 12-foot bed actually can handle a slightly bigger estimated payload of 4,430 lbs. 

3. Front-wheel drive 

The 2021 Ram Promaster 3500 comes standard with front-wheel drive. That means those essential (and heavy) drive components are fitted up front underneath the chassis, which in turn reduces the cargo-load-floor height and step-in height. For a van made for loading and unloading, that means both smoother ergonomic navigation in and out of the cab, plus improved traction with all that weight positioned at the front of the vehicle.
