2016 Toyota Highlander Hybrid review

1. Hybrid hype is real 

The 2016 Toyota Highlander Hybrid offers a fuel-sipping alternative to gas-only three-row SUVs with an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in combined and highway driving. This hybrid uses the same 3.5L V6 engine seen in the gas-only model, but the Hybrid Synergy Drive system pairs that engine with a high-torque electric drive motor generator. This powertrain delivers 280 hp, which provides quick acceleration that is comparable to a sedan. For example, the Highlander Hybrid has a 7.8-second 0-t0-60-mph run, whereas the 2016 Camry without the V-6 rings in at about 8.0 seconds. 

2. Chockfull of tech 

Since the 2016 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is only available in up-level trims, you'll get a lot of standard technology. Think upgraded infotainment with native navigation, premium audio, and Toyota's app suite as well as a high level of driver-assist tech like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, and rear parking sonar.
