Muscle cars are not for everybody. You have to love muscle cars to like this car. They love gasoline and stay thirsty, but I knew what i was getting in to with this car. I absolutely love it and plan on keeping it for many many years.
2014 Dodge Challenger Overview
The Dodge Challenger has been significantly updated for 2014 to be a top performer. Thanks to the powerful engine, exciting drive and refreshed interior, the 2014 Challenger's latest overhaul delivers a significant improvement over previous incarnations and gives a respectful nod to its muscle car lineage.
Features & Specs
With many different feature packages to maximize personalization options, the 2014 Dodge Challenger outfits each trim level quite nicely. For anyone looking for a lot of convenience features, look to the higher level trims. Additional options on higher trims include premium leather interior, with sport performance suspension and handling package. The Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS), a GPS-enabled stolen vehicle recovery system, is also available.
Design & Performance
The Dodge Challenger has been improved significantly for the 2014 model year. Specifically, it has a refined exterior style, new engines, an upgraded suspension and an improved interior as well. The Challenger fully lives up to muscle car expectations and packs big V6 and V8 engines under the hood alongside rear-wheel drive. The handling is controlled and the steering is composed. Unfortunately, the 2014 Challenger does not have competitive fuel efficiency for its class - though it is more fuel efficient than its predecessors, higher trims will run dry much quicker than the likes of the base model.
Powertrain & Engine
The 2014 Dodge Challenger has three different trim levels listed, such as: SXT, SRT-8 and R/T. The 2011 model year received two new engines, and they stick around for the 2014 edition. The standard powertrain on the 2014 Challenger is a 3.6L V6 engine that is capable of producing 305-horsepower. It can be swapped out for the 5.7L V8 engine or the 6.4L V8 engine, both of which significantly increase the Challenger's capabilities. In fact, the SRT-8 trim level comes the 6.4L V8 engine standard. All three engines can be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can also come equipped with a six-speed manual as well. All trim levels of the 2012 Challenger offer available rear-wheel drive.
Body Style & Interior Comfort
The 2014 Challenger was already an intimidating presence on the road. After taking design cues from the classic 1971 Challenger, the front end of the vehicle is significantly more retro-inspired than its immediate predecessors. On the inside, the 2014 Challenger meets driver expectations, featuring modern amenities, comfortable seating and a quiet cabin. Pulse-quickening engine revs can be enjoyed when pushing the 2014 Challenger to accelerate quickly.
