Generation Overview

Changes for the 2016 Dodge Charger from the previous year model are minimal, with the only changes of note being the introduction of the Blacktop appearance package on the SXT and R/T trims and the addition of Plum Crazy to the 2016 Charger’s color palette.

The available trim levels – SE and SE AWD, SXT and SXT AWD, R/T, R/T Road & Track, R/T Scat Pack, SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat – remain unchanged from the previous year. The aforementioned SE and SXT trims house the capable 3.6L V6 engine, rated at 292 hp or an even 300 hp with the available Rallye Group package. The remaining trims are V8- and RWD-only, starting with the brawny R/T with its 370-hp 5.7L HEMI V8. The R/T Scat Pack features the 485-hp 6.4L V8 as an upgrade, along with a host of go-fast parts and comfort features.

Standing at the top of the Charger hierarchy is the SRT Hellcat, boasting a supercharged 6.2L V8 with an astounding 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Every 2016 Dodge Charger engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, regardless of which trim you choose.
