2015 Honda Odyssey vs. Other Minivans

If you're in the market for a family-friendly minivan, you've got quite a few options. When considering the 2015 Honda Odyssey, you may also want to look at a few other popular minivans for sale by Toyota, Kia, and Chrysler.

2015 Honda Odyssey vs. 2015 Toyota Sienna

What sets the 2015 Sienna apart from the 2015 Odyssey is the fact that it has available all-wheel drive in its LE, XLE, and Limited trims. The 2015 Odyssey, on the other hand, comes only in front-wheel drive configurations. This could be a deciding factor for some buyers who prioritize having a vehicle with all-wheel drive.

Both the 2015 Odyssey and Sienna are available with seating for seven or eight passengers (depending on the configuration chosen), as well as such standard features as 17-inch wheels, a rearview camera, and air conditioning. It is worth noting, however, that the 2015 Odyssey includes a standard seven-speaker sound system (compared to the Sienna's four-speaker system) and keyless entry. On the other hand, the 2015 Odyssey offers standard tri-zone climate control (compared to dual-zone manual control on the Odyssey) as well as a larger 6.1-inch touchscreen display.

2015 Honda Odyssey vs. 2015 Kia Sedona

Brand new for 2015, the Kia Sedona is also available in seven- and eight-passenger configurations. And like the 2015 Odyssey, it is offered only in front-wheel drive and can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.1 From a space standpoint, both the 2015 Sedona and Odyssey have similar measurements: up to 142 cubic feet of space with rear seats folded down on the 2015 Sedona versus the slightly larger 150 cubic feet of the 2015 Odyssey.

Unlike the 2015 Odyssey, however, the 2015 Kia Sedona offers "Slide-n-Stow" second-row seating that allows for easy folding of the second row. On the Odyssey, the seats must be completely removed in order to utilize that storage space.

The 2015 Odyssey and Sedona share some standard features, including 17-inch wheels, cloth upholstery, and a split-folding third-row seat. However, the 2015 Odyssey also has an upgraded seven-speaker sound system and dual-zone air conditioning. The 2015 Sedona, on the other hand, boasts stain-resistant fabric throughout and rear parking sensors.

2015 Honda Odyssey vs. 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

If you're looking for a minivan that offers a lot in the way of standard features, check out the 2015 Town & Country. This minivan comes in six trim configurations, with standard equipment including a roof rack, heated mirrors, power-sliding doors/tailgate, leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Tri-zone climate control also makes for a more comfortable ride for up to eight passengers.

The 2015 Odyssey does offer more cargo and passenger space (a maximum of 150 cubic feet compared to just 143.8 cubic feet in the 2015 Town & Country), though the 2015 Town & Country includes fold-down second-row seating so the seats don't require complete removal to take advantage of that space. Both minivans are equipped with similar standard engines: a 3.5L V6 with 248 hp in the 2015 Odyssey and a 3.6L V6 with 283 hp in the 2015 Town & Country.

I love this car!

My family wanted an SUV to replace our 2003 odyssey. I really loved that car, but my family convinced me to upgrade and get the newest safety features available. The main reasons why I chose the 2015 Odyssey over SUVs - Less expensive, better gas mileage, and more comfortable! And I can get in and out of the Odyssey so much easier than a huge SUV! I got the touring so it has the DVD player, etc, which is cool, but my teens mostly play on their phones or iPads. It also has navigation, but it's a bit of a pain to use. You can't enter an address/destination while the car is in drive- great for driver safety but inconvenient for the passenger. Much quicker to plug my phone into the USB slot and use my favorite navigation app. Great car overall

Great value and a pleasure to drive

I like a van as my daily driver. It's versatile and keeps my belongings out of sight and out of the weather. It can also seat people comfortably when needed. I think it's a much better solution than a pickup.

  • Interior Space: I love the room in a van. I can fit my bicycle inside without disassembly. I transport other equipment and it fits easily and is always out of the weather and securely locked inside. Window tinting keeps things mostly out of sight. I would be nice if the middle row could be folded into the floor like other vans, but I like having the spare in the floor too.
  • Cabin Noise: I find the Odyssey to be very quiet compared to others I have owned.
  • Ride and Handling: Ride is smooth and handling is predicable. I previously owned a 2000 Odyssey and this is noticeably bigger. Turning radius is amazingly tight, tighter than any of my other vehicles. This makes maneuvering very

  • Technology and Entertainment: Honda is definitely behind the times and there are no upgrades to bring it current.
  • Fuel Economy: Despite "Economy" mode, it must be driven very conservatively to get 20 MPG. I get 18 MPG most of the time.
  • Power: Power is delayed and the van is not quick by any measurement. When fully loaded, it doesn't struggle but mileage degrades quickly. The van is heavy on it's own which contributes to its great ride and quiet interior, but you pay for it with acceleration and economy.

Great Family Vehicle

Great family vehicle with so many features we use every day! The DVD player with headphones, the 3rd row that stows away for extra space in the back, the window shades, etc. We've taken it on a few road trips now and it drives smoothly and gets great gas mileage!

  • Technology and Entertainment: The many options for entertainment and music are great!
  • Fuel Economy: We get great gas mileage with this vehicle! used to have a big truck that was a gas guzzler! This thing gets much better gas and full tank lasts alot longer!
  • Ride and Handling: Handles well, ride is smooth and it's very easy to maneuver, park, make u-turns, etc.

  • Power: I wish it had more power to speed up when trying to get on the freeway, etc. It sometimes feels a little sluggish.
  • Cabin Noise: Not sure if its the type of tires on our van, but it can get pretty noisy on the freeway or rough roads. The ride is still smooth however.
  • Seat Comfort: The driver and passenger seats are pretty stiff (leather seats) Wish the cushion was a little bit softer and that the head rests were more adjustable. They're pointed and a weird angle and I often have to recline the seat back just to make the headrest not hit the back of my head when driving.
