About the 2018 Kia Sorento
As a midsize crossover SUV, the Kia Sorento provides families small and large with a wide range of options, plenty of room and a drive full of thoughtful features that allows everyone to relax. With fuel efficiencies ranging from an EPA estimate of 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway for the 2.4L inline-four engine and front-wheel drive version to an EPA estimate of 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway for the 3.3L V6 engine and all-wheel drive version, it provides either an efficient ride for city life or a solid powerhouse for rough roads1. The all-wheel drive version can be locked into four-wheel drive if you feel the conditions merit it, or you can simply allow it to send power to wheels with good traction.
1 Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See fueleconomy.gov.

Q: Does the 2018 Kia Sorento have third-row seating?
A: Though not available in the base L trim level, the Kia Sorento does have third-row seating available in all of its other trim levels, though only when paired with the 3.3L V6 engine. This provides plenty of room for seating up to seven individuals in the vehicle, with two rear seats facing forward and split-folding, sliding second-row seats providing easy access.
Q: How are the different 2018 Kia Sorento trim levels different?
A: There are five different trim levels for the 2018 Kia Sorento, with the base level L having a 2.4L inline-four engine, five-passenger seating and cloth seats with YES Essentials®3 fabric treatment; the LX with available 3.3L V6 and seven-passenger seating as well as available Dynamax™ all-wheel drive; the EX features a fuel-efficient 2.0L inline-four engine or available 3.3L V6 and Dynamax™ all-wheel drive, and leather seat trim; the SX comes with the 3.3L V6 engine, seven-passenger seating and available Dynamax™ all-wheel drive; and the SX Limited adds Nappa leather seat trim.
Q: How much can the 2018 Kia Sorento haul?
A: When properly equipped with the available 3.3L V6 engine with all-wheel drive, the 2018 Sorento delivers a strong performance at 252 lb-ft of torque and a 5,000-pound towing capacity2.
2 Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.
The Kia Sorento's third generation made its official debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Though it is 3.74 inches longer than the previous generation, it's also situated lower to the ground to improve overall handling. It was originally available with either a manual or automatic six-speed transmission, though by the time the 2018 Kia Sorento came into the market, it was only available in an automatic version. The entire generation has used three different engines in the North American market, including the 3.3L V6 at 290 hp, the 2.4L inline-four at 190 hp and the newer 2.0L inline-four at 240 hp.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's independent crash tests help you make informed decisions about vehicle safety. NHTSA's 5-Star Safety Ratings give consumers insights into how vehicles perform in crash tests, with more stars equaling higher safety ratings. Here are the ratings for the 2018 Kia Sorento. Certain vehicles may have unrepaired safety recalls. Visit nhtsa.gov/recalls to look up a specific vehicle.
Reviews for 2018 Kia Sorento
This is a great family car. My wife loves driving it. It drives smaller than a minivan, and is easier to fit in the garage and in tight parking lots. But has the room of a mid-sized SUV with room for 7. Gets great gas mileage for its size, and has lots of power.
- Visibility: Sits high, but isn't huge.
- Ride and Handling: Rides nice and smooth and quiet
- Styling: Looks great
very good used car at a good price.
looks good, great interior, acceptable gas mileage, well equipped.
- Fuel Economy: it exceeds estimated MPG.
- Technology and Entertainment: it comes well equipped, ex. heated seats, satellite radio, cd player, jacks for iPod, voice activated system
- Reliability: burns more oil than should at 40,000 miles,
LOVE it - such a great vehicle!
I love it, we just moved to a mountainous area and it's perfect for going up and down in elevation, snow and rough roads. It's comfortable and an easy ride.
- Ride and Handling: It handles really well and rides easy on roads
- Weather Versatility: We have all kinds of weather here and it's been a champ through it all so far!
- Interior Space: I used this car to move a lot of our stuff to our new home and it has a lot of space in it!
- Dashboard: I do wish the slippery road light wouldn't stay on once the temps drop below 39, I live in the mountains that's a lot of the time!
- Visibility: I do wish the back window was a little bigger, it would be just a little easier to see out of.
