The 2021 Nissan Frontier delivers reliable performance, strong power, and good handling, making it a solid midsize truck. While its dependability impresses customers, mixed feedback on fuel economy, cabin noise, and outdated technology suggests room for modernization. Overall, it balances utility and comfort effectively, though some refinements are desired.
I purchased a 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x with a little under 9000 miles on it. I sold my F-150 many years for a sedan and wish I would have gotten another truck. I've needed one from time to time and when my Ford Taurus was almost paid off, I decided to get a mid-size truck to fit in the garage. As a long time, Ford owner (I did own a couple Oldsmobile) I looked heavily at the Ranger. It was reviewed well to excellent, but I wanted more than a 270-horsepower turbo 4-cyl. I looked at the Toyota Taco (Tacoma) and wanted more than 278 horsepower plus I'm a tall guy and the head room wasn't enough. I looked at GMC Canyon, but I didn't like the interior, horsepower was close, but no cigar. I read and watched may reviews on the 2020-2022 Frontier. It had the 310 horsepower V-6, which caught my attention. The truck brand has been around for almost 2 decades and it's been a solid truck, unlike Nissan CVT systems. The reviewers, well for the most part most of them complained that it was a truck and not the pretty little princess trucks we have turned trucks into now days. They said "it drove and felt like a truck"......... Well shocker, it's a truck!!!!!! I've owned mine for several months now and extremely happy with it. I can't wait to drive it. I've added rubber floor mats, remote starter (which ever truck I own will have one now), tow hitch, and bed extender. I was shooting for a 2022 model, and the looks had changed little over the 16 years that the first-generation body style ran for. Yes, the 2021 model doesn't have Apple or Android audio, it plays music from my phone just fine. The GPS system is outdated, and I wish the 2021 model had blind side assistance, which the 2022 models and up now have. I have the "loaded" Pro-4X model, so I have a sunroom and leather seats that I can leave without and hopefully won't get on any future trucks I buy unless I have to compromise. But the truck moves like the wind and wants to spin the tires at every stoplight or stop sign. It fits better in my 1960's garage than my 2015 Ford Taurus, it has a crew cab which yes, the backseat is small, but I'm not hauling people. I use it like the backside of ever car or SUV I've own, trunks and cargo areas were used very little in life, so the backseat is my temporary storage area till I get to my location or home, The 5 foot bed perfect to pick up or move small things as I'm not my friends U-Haul that I was with several of them with my F-150's I've owned. Fuel economy is standard and noting to write home about on a truck since reviewers think truck should be lazy boy in an 800 square foot apartment with wheels. Again, it's a truck...... I think I should review trucks since reviewers have forgotten what they are. Any who, the first gen look is beautiful, stately, powerful when you take in its long service. Very car and truck made by humans can or will have issues, but in the mid-size truck market Nissan Frontier is the Pro 4 times over (see what I did there?)
310 pony power under the hood that's why.!!!!
Very nice and solid interior.
I like the ride and handling.
Could it be better?? Sure, but it's a powerful truck.
I have the PRO 4x and don't need a sunroof or leather seats.
The car note is too much.
Better than most trucks.
This vehicle looks like its been in an front accident. The bumper trim is crooked and. it has plastic repair on the bumper.
Fuel efficient & very reliable
