Generation Overview

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma represents the fourth model year for the third generation of this midsized pickup design that has been on American roads since 1995. For the 2019 Tacoma, minimal changes appeared from the similarly-designed 2017 and 2018 year models. Two engines are found on this ride, starting with the 2.7L four-cylinder that is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission and only appears on the SR and SR5 trim level. For the extra muscle you want for hauling, trail riding, and all around fun, the 3.5L V6 engine is available on all trim levels and pours out 278 hp. Opt for the six-speed manual transmission available on the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro when you want control over your low crawl mode. Rear-wheel drive is standard with part-time 4WDemand offered as an option should you want to put your truck to the test over sand, snow, and gravel.

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma features six trims including the SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The SR kicks off the run with steel wheels, skid plates, heated side mirrors, a deck rail system, and backup camera. Alloy wheels, chrome bumpers, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and remote keyless entry level up the looks and function in the SR5. The TRD Sport adds a 120-volt power outlet to the bed, wireless charging, smart key entry and start, and integrated navigation.2,3 Get a little muddy in the TRD Off-Road using active traction control, bold black and chrome wheels, and the standard tow package. The Limited trim adds luxury appointments with a power moonroof, rear parking sonar, leather-trimmed seats, and automatic climate control. The TRD Pro is serious about work and features 4WD, a TRD Pro cat-back exhaust, FOX® internal bypass shocks, RIGID® LED fog lights, and a power sliding rear window for easier access to the bed.

The four-door double cab can be found on all trims, while the smaller Access cab only appears on the SR, SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road. Driver assist features are included on all trucks and help you avoid trouble with automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. USB ports and Bluetooth® technology keep you charged up and connected no matter where the road might take you.

Wonderful truck at a great price!

Everything was so easy. My wife selected the truck, I went to Athens to test drive it. I liked ti and they made me an offer for my truck. Next thing I know I was driving the new truck home.

Great Truck

This is my 5th Toyota truck. all were awesome but I think this one is a real keeper. I sold a Mercedes Benz to get this truck and it has all the bells & whistles the Benz had. Very solid vehicle with Toyota reliability. my last Toyota had 305000 miles when I sold it and it’s still running great with the new owner.

  • Ride and Handling: very comfortable and corners like a sport car.
  • Technology and Entertainment: Info touch screen has it all.
  • Fuel Economy: regularly gets nearly 20 mpg.

  • Braking: I don’t really have a con but had to pick something.

Love the look but has issues

The brakes needed changing along with rotors and the rear end vibrates leaving a very rough ride. Local CarMax was not able to determine why the vibration is happening. Overall comfort is limited compared to other midsized trucks.
