The 2016 Acura MDX is a midsize SUV that drives more like a sedan than a larger SUV. The sharp steering enables you to thread between heavy traffic or tackle parallel parking with ease. At highway speeds, the MDX is responsive and athletic, with just the right steering feel. This comes without the usual sport penalty of a harsh ride, as the MDX floats over bumps and minimizes road noise to maximize comfort.
Acura calls it SH-AWD, for Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. They aren't kidding. This advanced AWD is electronically controlled for instantaneous response to slick driving conditions. Torque vectoring allows the MDX to split power front to rear or side to side as needed. From slushy city streets to sandy beaches and gravel driveways, the SH-AWD system uses finesse to intelligently power you through it all. It even works on dry streets, making the MDX more fun on curvy roads, almost like it's glued to the pavement.
Acura designers focused on the ownership experience, making the MDX the SUV that conveniently fits your lifestyle. Unlike some SUVs with third-row seating, the 2016 MDX offers reasonable access to all the rear seats, making getting in and out an easy task. The MDX has ample cargo space, and passengers will notice the myriad cubbies and bins for holding everything, from phones to crayons and coloring books, or work equipment. The new-for-2016 standard suspension lessens the feel of bumps in the road and delivers a peaceful cabin for quiet commuting.
Under the hood of the 2016 Acura MDX is a 3.5L V6 generating 290 horsepower, with optional start-stop. Paired with a quick-shifting nine-speed automatic matched to front- or all-wheel drive, the 2016 Acura MDX can sprint zero to 60 in just 6.4 seconds. That's equivalent to some sports cars and makes quick work of highway on-ramps. Select Sport mode for even faster throttle response and shifts, or take control yourself with the standard paddle shifters.
Rather than separate trim levels, Acura uses a base model with a range of optional features to choose from. For example, look out for the AcuraWatch™ Plus package that groups all the high-tech driver assistance features you could want in rush-hour driving, while the Technology package adds navigation, a banging sound system, and blind spot monitoring. The Entertainment package adds a larger infotainment screen, rear seat entertainment system, and second-row heated seats. The Advance package includes much of the above, plus start-stop tech, roof rails, and upgraded 19-inch wheels.
