Year comparisons
2007–2013 Acura MDX (Second Generation)
The second-generation MDX was released for the 2007 model year. The exterior was restyled to include a redesigned grille and sharper body lines, as well as a longer wheelbase and wider track. For this generation, the standard engine was upgraded from a 3.5L V6 to a 300-hp 3.7L V6 and was paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. The AWD system was also enhanced to include an active rear differential.
2014–2020 Acura MDX (Third Generation)
The third generation MDX introduced a new platform that increased the SUV's interior room. The cabin was also enhanced with a button-operated sliding second row to improve the MDX's third-row access. The previous 3.7L V6 was replaced with a new 3.5L V6 with 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. Even though the third generation MDX features less horsepower, it weighed 275 lbs less than previous models, which helped the SUV's acceleration abilities.
2022 Acura MDX (Fourth Generation)
The Acura MDX took a hiatus for 2021 and ushered in an all-new fourth generation for its 2022 model year. Enhancements include sleeker exterior styling, an improved interior with more legroom, and new technologies, including a standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen and touchpad controller. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are also standard in all fourth-generation trims and a full-color head-up display is now available on Advance package models.
