The full-size SUV full of features
Whether traveling the high country or to the lake, the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is impossible to ignore. In fact, it tops our #1 best luxury 3-row SUVs list. The imposing exterior design is cutting-edge modern and the 2022 model offers six unique trim levels to fit your personality and driving needs. You can configure the 2022 Tahoe for maximum road trip flexibility and #VanLife car camping, load up on luxury and tech for your many passengers, or max it out as a heavy-duty towing beast. The Tahoe also ranks as the #5 best 8-passenger SUV.
While the flashy and attractive exterior gets all the attention, have a look under the hood. The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe offers three powerful engine options, starting with the base 5.3L V8. This engine is good for 355 hp, while the hotrod engine is the optional 6.2L V8 with 420 hp for increased towing and hauling. However, if you expect to regularly haul a loaded 25' cabin cruiser to the lake, check out the diesel option. The 3.0L Duramax® turbodiesel I6 engine has 277 hp, and 460 lb-ft at a super low 1,500 rpm. Power and torque at this level is one reason CarMax customer sales place the Tahoe at #2 in best large SUVs.
Heading inside, you'll find generous legroom in any of the three rows accommodating up to nine passengers. There's a genuinely cool, first-in-class power sliding center console. Just push a button, and the center console slides back, offering the second-row passengers easy access to additional cupholders, climate controls, and USB ports. If no one is sitting back there, fold the seats down entirely flat for a cargo floor that can easily accommodate 4x8 plywood or drywall.
While we currently do not have many 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe on our lots, we look forward to selling more in the future. If you love the 2022 model, you should also consider prior/other model years of the Chevrolet Tahoe with similar features.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe
1. Acres of space
A full-size SUV delivers maximum cargo hauling, without the open-air exposure of a pickup bed. Accommodating eight passengers, the cargo area behind the rear seats has 25.5 cu-ft to hold all of your passengers' backpacks. From hauling the entire team to putting the seats down for 122.9 cu-ft of the biggest yard sale finds, the Tahoe has you covered.
2. Three available engines
Rather than limit you to one drivetrain, the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe offers three engine choices to meet varying needs. For everyday driving passengers around, just enjoy the base 5.3L. For serious torque, look to the 3.0L turbodiesel, or the 6.2L V8 that laughs at steep hills and sounds like a muscle car. There's enough torque to get you out of the muddy job site, up the steepest grade, or onto a short on-ramp.
3. Stealth luxury
If you want luxury features, but don't want to shout it to the world, the Tahoe High Country trim won't tell. Take the edges off your daily commute with 12-way power driver's and front passenger's seats. Look for heat, cooling, large swaths of leather, chrome, and wood, plus huge screens, connectivity, and more to make every drive a relaxing experience.
4. Heavy-duty towing
The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe excels at playing pickup truck, especially when hooked to a trailer. The 5.3L with 2WD and the optional towing package has a maximum estimated towing capacity of 8,400 pounds when properly equipped.
That's equivalent to a good-sized lake boat or a loaded 24' horse trailer.5. The boss off-road
The off-road realm isn't just for rock crawling toys and ATVs. The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 trim is locked to four-wheel drive and includes additional features for conquering muddy roads, or even where the road ends. The Z71 has performance suspension bits, heavy-duty skid plates, red tow hooks, and an optional performance exhaust.

2022 Chevrolet Tahoe FAQ
The 2021 and 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe are nearly identical at first glance, as they are part of the same generation. The 2021 model introduced the new generation, while 2022 added some details, such as the Z71 trim's electronic limited-slip differential for enhanced traction.
The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is among the largest of the full-size SUVs available. With large wheels, a truck-like grille, headlight, and hood design, it's only behind the front doors that the design shows off a large covered cargo compartment.
Active fuel management is an older term for an engine system that shuts down half the cylinders when cruising. The current marketing language is "dynamic fuel management", as it is now more advanced and flexible, shutting down varying cylinders as needed. Only the 2022 Tahoe's 5.3L and 6.2L gas engines have dynamic fuel management.

Interior details
Step up into the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and immediately notice the generous passenger space and comfortable seats. It's not just big on the outside, as there are 42.3 inches of headroom and 44.5 inches of legroom. The two-tone leather interior, such as Jet Black/Mocha, places the primary color on the dash and seats, and the second color as accent pieces for both. Natural wood trim accents the entire length of the dash, only interrupted by the steering wheel and a large, bright digital driver information screen.
The center 10.2-inch touchscreen is easy to use, and if physical knobs are more your thing, the Tahoe has you covered with HVAC and audio controls below the screen. The optional panoramic sunroof lives up to its name as it is massive.
Heading to the second row, you'll notice the passenger room is equally as impressive, with 38.9 inches of headroom, and a spacious 42 inches of legroom. The optional rear-seat media system has dual 12.6-inch screens behind the front passenger headrests. Rear seat passengers can plug in game consoles or their phones and get their entertainment fix for the entire ride.
There are six standard USB ports throughout the interior, so you should never see a low battery icon on your phone again. Around the back, lift the hatch and check out the rear cargo area. It's 25.5 cu-ft with the third-row seats up (about the same as an average French door refrigerator), or put the second and third rows down for 122.9 cu-ft, equal to two old-style public phone booths.
Child seat details
The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV that can comfortably seat up to eight people (up to seven if equipped with second-row captain's chairs). If you are looking to haul several children at once, the Tahoe is your ride, accommodating up to six kids in child seats. The second-row captain's chairs accept two LATCH car seats, infant car seats, rear-facing convertible car seats, forward-facing convertible car seats, and booster car seats.
If optioned with two bench seats, the center seats are best for booster seats but can accommodate some other styles of child seats. The seat recline/incline is easy to find on the outboard side of the seats, and the LATCH anchors are equally easy to find. Seatbelt stalks are flexible and have minimal overlap, so parents and carers should be pleased with their decision to drive a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Performance
While the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe wasn't designed for speed, it does have powerful engines. The base 5.3L has 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Zero to 60 passes in 7.4 seconds (when new). The optional 6.2L delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, for improved acceleration, cutting a half-second off the zero-to-60 time, at 6.9 seconds (when new).
The independent rear suspension delivers surprisingly confident handling for a vehicle of this size, and the optional air suspension soaks up bumps and quiets the interior. The optional performance exhaust system doesn't actually add any performance, but it does sound great when accelerating onto the highway. A quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox offered, in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions.
The top speed is an estimated 115 mph, but you're probably far more interested in towing. Look to the 5.3L, RWD, and the optional max trailering package, for a maximum estimated towing capacity of 8,400 pounds when properly equipped.
When hauling kids instead of boats, go easy on the throttle for an EPA-estimated 16 to 24 mpg combined, depending on your engine choice.Year comparison
2007-2014 Chevrolet Tahoe (third generation)
The third-generation Tahoe was distinctive for its blocky, charismatic design, and for delivering a lot of utility in a convenient package. Pop the hood on an early third-gen and you might find a 4.8L V8, the ubiquitous 5.3L, or an optional 6.0L. All were tied to a four-speed auto. Some cool tech included the optional integrated trailer brake controller, but the big news was the optional hybrid trim. The 6.0L paired with two electric motors and rear-wheel drive achieved a 30% increase, with an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined.
Bonuses to this generation include all the towing and off-road packages you'd expect, while disadvantages include second-row seating not offering power, and a third-row that doesn't fold flat.2015-2020 Chevrolet Tahoe (fourth generation)
Chevy is smart in making evolutionary changes to the Tahoe, rather than dramatic differences. Look to the previous generation Tahoe for a similar design and powertrain. You'll see key differences in the grille and headlights, with more angular styling versus the newer fifth generation's aerodynamic looks. Pop the hood, and you won't find a diesel engine, but the 5.3L and 6.2L are both available, with a similar 355 and 420 hp, respectively. Inside, you will notice the most differences, with an 8-inch touchscreen, instead of a digital driver information screen and traditional gauges. Carplay was unavailable until 2016. The fourth-generation Tahoe should be on your shopping list if you need seating for seven or eight, have high towing needs, or regularly haul large cargo. Note that Premier trim is called LTZ prior to 2018, but it still has plenty of upscale features.
2021-present Chevrolet Tahoe (fifth generation)
All-new for the 2021 model year, the Tahoe received upgrades to styling, comfort, and tech. An overall larger SUV than the previous generation, the Tahoe also received an independent rear suspension as standard equipment, increasing interior volume and quieting and smoothing the ride.
On the inside, the column shifter has been swapped out for a push-button transmission control and the dashboard layout gains a contemporary flair. Both of the previous generation's V8s are still available under the sleek hood, plus the optional diesel. While the fourth-gen Tahoe had a six-speed auto, the 2021 Tahoe receives a 10-speed. Standard driver assistance features extend to base LS trim, including Buckle to Drive (it won't shift out of park until your seatbelt is on) and Teen Driver (programable key fob that limits and reports on driving) configurations for when you hand the keys to others.
