2020 Land Rover Discovery review

1. Two powerhouse engines

Prepare to be spoilt for choice. All four 2020 Discovery trims come standard with a supercharged 3.0L V6 gasoline engine, producing 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Take it to the track for a top speed of 130 mph or enjoy a pleasing zero-to-60 mph time of 6.9 seconds (according to the manufacturer's own testing when new). A turbocharged 3.0L V6 diesel engine is available for the SE, HSE, and HSE Luxury models. With 254 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, you may lean towards this setup if you're an off-road enthusiast or you enjoy a rural lifestyle filled with forest trails and dirt track driving. Both powertrains are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and benefit from stop/start functionality when idle.

2. Luxurious interior

The 2020 Discovery interior is personable luxury at its finest. Leather upholstery is standard throughout, balanced by handcrafted wood veneer, gloss, or aluminum accent details across the center console, dash, and paneling. This level of luxury extends to technology too. When equipped with Electronic Air Suspension (available on the SE and HSE trims, standard for Landmark and HSE Luxury) the 2020 Discovery automatically lowers the vehicle when the engine is switched off for passengers to make an elegant entry or exit. 3. Off-road capability

While the stylish curves and clean lines of the 2020 Discovery make it a great choice for downtown cruising, this midsize SUV also has exceptional off-road ability. All 2020 models are equipped as standard with all-wheel drive and a Terrain Response^™ system that allows you to select driving modes that match the conditions — such as snow, sand, and mud. If you enjoy the challenges that off-roading brings, pick a 2020 Discovery with the Capability or Capability Plus package for features like a twin-speed transfer case (for increased traction when offroading or on steep inclines), and automatic — rather than driver-selected — terrain response functionality.

Everyday interior storage is exemplary too, including space for drink bottles in the door bins and cup holders throughout the cabin. Your travel essentials can also remain close by thanks to the front row's center console bin and dual glove boxes and the second-row under-seat storage bins. There's even a side panel box with a lid for the optional third row.
