The 2022 Lexus NX 350h gets new styling and better fuel economy
The Lexus NX is a luxury compact SUV, akin to the Acura RDX, BMW X3, or Genesis GV70, but the NX 350h features a hybrid engine that makes it stand out from the rest. It pairs a four-cylinder gas engine and a dual-electric motor, producing 239 horsepower, and gets an EPA-estimated 39 mpg combined. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Actual mileage will vary based on things like battery age, vehicle condition and history, driving and charging habits, accessory use, and driving conditions. Battery capacity may decrease with time and use. See fueleconomy.gov for more info. If you prefer a greater electric range, there is also the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+, which we review separately.
Redesigned for 2022, the Lexus NX 350h, formerly called the NX 300h, kicks off its second generation, with new exterior styling, a renovated interior, and greater fuel economy. A 9.8-inch touchscreen is standard, but there is also an available 14-inch screen on upper trims. Both screens feature a combination of virtual and physical controls for the climate system. This was a massive departure from prior Lexus models, which were equipped with a central display mounted far from the driver and controlled by a finicky touchpad. The Lexus NX 350h also comes with several helpful tech and driver-assist features.

What We Like
Center touchscreen: Edmunds' test vehicle was equipped with the available larger 14-inch touchscreen. The graphics are crisp and easy to read, and the touchscreen’s responses are satisfyingly quick. The software's numerous menus might involve a slight learning curve.
Driver assistance tech: Lexus' suite of driver aids is standard and includes adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. An enhanced 360-degree backup camera and parking sensors are available on Premium and Luxury trim levels.
Excellent visibility: The NX 350h is easy to see out of, both from the front and sides. Its swoopy rear styling does hinder visibility a bit during over-the-shoulder glances, but the side mirrors are big enough to help deal with blind spots. The rear camera resolution is clear and the view is even better on the larger center screen.
What Needs Improvement
Small cargo area: With 22.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats, the NX 350h offers less cargo capacity than many of its rivals. The Genesis GV70, for example, offers 28.9 cubic feet and the Acura RDX offers 29.5 cubic feet. That said, the cargo area for the NX 350h is broad and free of obstructions, making it easy to load larger or bulky objects.
