2014 Nissan Sentra review

1. Pleasing fuel economy 

If you're shopping for a fuel-savvy compact sedan that offers more miles between fill-ups, you’ll like what the 2014 Sentra can do for you. The Sentra’s 1.8L four-cylinder engine pairs to standard FWD and a base-trim six-speed manual transmission, or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) across its other trims. This powertrain achieves 130 hp, and with the CVT delivery system can offer an EPA-estimated 33 mpg combined, which includes 38 mpg on the highway.   

2. Spacious passenger dimensions 

This compact sedan may surprise you with its roomy interior dimensions, making it a fine option for trips with family and friends. Passengers in the front row will enjoy cloth-upholstered bucket seats with 42.5 inches of legroom in which to stretch out. To the rear, there’s bench seating for three people, and space enough for even your tallest companions, with 36.7 inches of headroom and 37.4 inches of legroom.

If this is going to be a shared vehicle with family members or roommates, everyone gets the chance to be comfortable with the S trim’s six-way manually adjustable driver seat, and the tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel column. 

4. Available tech 

Each 2014 Sentra trim incrementally adds advanced infotainment and assistance features for your enjoyment and convenience on the road. Stepping up from the base to the SV model will add control buttons to the steering wheel for easy audio and cruise control management, while the SL trim offers Bluetooth^® hands-free phone connectivity and a 4.3-inch color infotainment display. Look out for models equipped with one of the 2014 Sentra’s available packages too, including Bose^® audio upgrades via the Premium package, or system navigation and smartphone integration with the Navigation package. 

5. Trunk space 

With ample room for daily essentials or trip luggage, this compact sedan’s trunk provides versatility and convenience when you need it. At 15.1 cu-ft, this surprisingly roomy trunk is more on par with the space a typical midsize sedan offers. For trips or errands that require additional space, the 2014 Sentra’s rear row has 60/40-split seating that can be folded down to accommodate longer items like sporting equipment or white goods.
