The 2014 Ram 2500 gets new suspension and new V8
For 2014, Ram updated its heavy-duty Ram 2500 pickup truck with new suspension and a new optional V8. The Ram 2500 (formerly known as the Dodge Ram 2500) was already a capable truck with outstanding comfort for the class, and the updates for 2014 built on both strengths.
While already a comfortable truck, the coil-spring rear suspension introduced for 2014 offered a noticeable improvement to ride quality, something that’s often a weakness for heavy-duty trucks. It also allowed Ram to offer an optional load-leveling rear air suspension. A new optional gasoline V8 improved on both the power and torque of the base engine, offering more towing and hauling capability for buyers who didn’t want to switch to diesel. A 6-foot 4-inch bed and a long 8-foot bed are available.

What We Like
Strong optional engines: The turbocharged diesel engine, making up to 800 lb-ft of torque, is joined by a new optional gasoline V8 for 2014. The new V8 makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, a nice bump over the standard V8. Both options are strong choices for towing and hauling.
Excellent comfort: With its new coil-spring rear suspension, the 2014 Ram 2500 offers a smoother ride than contemporary heavy-duty competitors. Inside the quiet cabin are plush seats and a lot of available comfort-oriented options, including heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, power-adjustable pedals, and more.
Off-road-ready Power Wagon: For those looking to take their heavy-duty trucks off-road, Ram loaded the Ram 2500 Power Wagon with off-road features. The suspension and 4x4 system have been modified for increased articulation and traction, and skid plates and a power winch will help get the truck out of rough situations.
What needs improvement
Limited technology features: Features like driver aids, front parking sensors, and smartphone integration are common these days, but none were available for the 2014 Ram 2500. You can find Bluetooth®, a rearview camera, and a touchscreen infotainment system, but only on certain trim levels as none were standard equipment.
