2024 Subaru Ascent review

1. Spacious interior 

Being a three-row midsize SUV, it should come as no surprise that the 2024 Subaru Ascent has a large cabin with a lot of room for passengers: totaling 153.2 cu-ft. It can seat up to eight, with the third-row seats understandably a little tighter than the rest. Front-row passengers get 41.2 inches of headroom and 42.2 inches of legroom, with second-row headroom and legroom measuring 40 inches and 38.6 inches, respectively. 

2. Standard all-wheel drive 

In addition to being supremely practical, the 2024 Subaru Ascent has a lot to offer when it comes to performance, as well. It's a great vehicle for off-road driving, thanks to the standard all-wheel drive and a few other features that will allow you to overcome various obstacles and rough terrain with ease. Ground clearance of 8.7 inches, along with the standard hill descent control and the ability to switch between Snow and Dirt driving modes, make the 2024 Ascent a great off-roading vehicle. 

3. Powerful engine 

All 2024 Subaru Ascent models come standard with a 260-hp turbocharged 2.4L, four-cylinder engine, combined with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It's a capable powertrain that allows for quick acceleration, going from zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. With this kind of power, you can confidently merge onto highways and pass other vehicles. 

4. Standard tech features 

For optimal connectivity, entertainment, and convenience for all passengers, the 2024 Subaru Ascent is equipped with a range of standard tech features. There is a standard 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ integration, along with a six-speaker sound system and four USB ports. It also has three-zone climate control and an available Wi-Fi hotspot.

 

5. Cargo and towing capacity 

The utilitarian aspect of the 2024 Subaru Ascent is perfectly reflected through the abundant cargo space and towing capacity. It offers 18 cu-ft of space in the trunk, with a maximum cargo volume of 87 cu-ft when you fold down the second- and third-row seats. When powered by the 260-hp 2.4L engine, the 2024 Subaru Ascent can tow up to an estimated 5,000 lbs, when properly equipped.

This means that you will be able to easily tow a utility trailer, jet skis, a small travel trailer, a couple of snowmobiles, or a fishing boat, among other things.
