2022 Subaru Ascent review

1. Spacious interior 

Among the many benefits of owning a 2022 Subaru Ascent, its roomy and comfortable cabin is arguably one of the most appealing. With three rows of seats, it can seat up to eight passengers, making it a great choice for large families. While the third-row seats are a little narrow and mostly suitable for kids, passengers in the first and second rows get much more room. There is 41.3 inches of headroom and 42.2 inches of legroom for first-row passengers, with 40 inches of headroom and 38.6 inches of legroom in the second row. 

2. Standard all-wheel drive 

If performance is your priority, then you'll be happy to know that the 2022 Subaru Ascent comes standard with all-wheel drive. The AWD system can come in handy in various situations, including when driving off-road and in poor weather. Additionally, the standard equipment on all 2022 Subaru Ascent models includes hill-descent control, which — along with the high ground clearance — makes this midsize SUV a capable off-road vehicle. 

3. Potent engine 

All those off-road-oriented features on the 2022 Subaru Ascent are complemented by a powerful engine. All trims have a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder engine that generates 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque — paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers a comfortable and smooth ride, which along with the responsive steering and the balanced handling, help make for an enjoyable riding experience. 

4. Numerous standard tech features 

In terms of technology, the 2022 Subaru Ascent is equipped with plenty of features that help make each ride as pleasant as possible. For starters, it comes standard with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ compatibility, accompanied by a six-speaker sound system. It also has satellite radio and Bluetooth^® connectivity, as well as four USB ports and tri-zone automatic climate control. 

5. High cargo capacity 

In addition to the spacious cabin and the ability to accommodate up to eight passengers, the 2022 Subaru Ascent has a lot of room for cargo, too. In the trunk, you get 17.8 cu-ft of space, with the overall cargo capacity increasing to 47.5 cu-ft with the rear seats folded. If that's not enough for your home improvement store haul, you get up to 86.5 cu-ft with the second- and third-row seats folded.
