Generation Overview

The 2014 Ford F150 marked the final year of production for this truck's 12th generation, which launched in 2009. When this generation debuted, it did so with upgrades over the previous generation like a new six-speed automatic transmission and a top-tier Platinum trim level. The SuperCrew cab also saw an increase of six inches over the 2008 model, offering additional legroom for rear-seat passengers.

By the 2014 model, more upgrades like an available touchscreen interface, Ford Sync® voice control, and a premium Sony sound system were added.

Ford F150 Engine Options

When the 12th-generation F150 launched in 2009, a 4.6L V8 at 348 hp was the standard engine. Other offerings included a 4.6L V8 at 292 hp and a 5.4L V8 at 320 hp.

By 2010, additional engines were added to the line-up, including a brawny 6.2L V8 at 400-411 hp (varies by model year) on the Raptor trim. This trim was also the first F150 to come standard with four-wheel drive.

Beginning in 2012, the F150 received a new base engine: a 3.7L V6 at 302 hp. Other refreshed engine offerings included a 5.0L V8 at 360 hp and a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 at 365 hp.

Ford F150 Cab and Bed Sizes

The 12th-generation F150 is available in three cab sizes and three bed lengths. A regular cab features a single front-row bench seat and maxes out at seating for three people. Need more space? The extended SuperCab can seat up to five people, and the crew/SuperCrew cab tops out at seating for six.

Cab lengths available on the F150 include a 5.5-foot short bed, a standard 6.5-foot bed, and a long 8-foot bed.

Enjoyable truck!

Good gas mileage for a v6 motor has a get up and go power.

  • Fuel Economy: It's my daily driver and saves me gas.
  • Power: For a 6 cylinder it gets up and goes.
  • Seat Comfort: The cab has plenty of leg room and the seats are comfortable.

  • Braking: While braking even lightly the vehicle tends to shutter, not smooth.
