Generation Overview

The 2019 Tucson is part of this crossover's third generation (2016-2020), which debuted with an overall longer and wider body design than its second-generation counterpart. Specifically, the third-generation Tucson measures three inches longer and 1.1 inches wider, resulting in several cubic feet of additional cargo space behind the rear row.

When the third-generation Tucson was introduced, it also offered more optional features, such as an eight-inch touchscreen and turbocharged 1.6L engine.

For the 2019 model year, the Tucson saw the addition of standard driver-assistance features like lane-keep assist and frontal-collision avoidance. The existing 1.6L turbocharged engine was discontinued for this model year, and revised styling provided the Tucson with a refreshed and modern look.

2019 Hyundai Tucson Engine Options

Under the hood, the SE and Value trims on the 2019 Tucson are equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 164 hp. For more power, check out the SEL, Sport, Limited, or Ultimate trim—all of which are outfitted with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine at 181 hp.

Every 2019 Tucson is powered by a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive was optional when this crossover was sold new, so you may have luck finding a used model with AWD.

2019 Hyundai Tucson Interior

Behind the rear row of the 2019 Tucson, you'll find a generous 31-cubic-foot cargo area. And with standard 60/40-split-folding rear seats, you can extend the cargo area up to 61.9 cubic feet as needed. On Sport and above trims, you'll also find a convenient power liftgate so you can open and close the trunk even when your hands are full.

Inside the cabin, there's plenty of space for small items in an assortment of trays, cubbies, and a large center console. Meanwhile, your passengers should have plenty of room to stretch out even in the rear row.
