2015 Nissan Altima Overview

The Nissan Altima is impressive, striking a balance between acceleration and fuel efficiency without compromising either. The Altima is also extremely comfortable and filled with features - it's great for long commutes.

2015 Nissan Altima History

In the past few generations, the Nissan Altima has evolved tremendously. Today's Altima blends the athleticism of its previous iterations with the comfort and fuel economy of its current generation.

  • The 2015 model year is a part of the fifth generation of Nissan Altima vehicles.
  • The Nissan Altima was first introduced in 1992 as a compact car.
  • It was upgraded to a midsize sedan in 2001.

How It Drives

On the road, the Nissan Altima feels satisfying and rewarding to drive. The car's handling feels well-balanced. The four-cylinder engine is powerful enough; it accelerates quickly and allows for smooth passing on the highway. The stronger V6 engine creates a driving experience that feels more capable and more eager on the road. The ride is quiet and refined, even on rough patches of driveway.

Used 2015 Nissan Altima Value

The 2015 Nissan Altima is one of the best choices among midsize sedans. It is extremely comfortable, surprisingly quick, and thoroughly fuel efficient. The Nissan Altima isn't necessarily sporty or luxurious, but it is a balanced sedan and a great choice for a family seeking a good used car.

Design & Performance

The 2015 Nissan Altima is available with two main trim levels: 2.5 or 3.5. Each of these trim levels come with a few variations that host different feature packages. The trim levels get their namesake from their engine configuration.

The Nissan Altima 2.5 is the base level trim. It's built with full power accessories, a 4.3-inch LCD information display in the gauge cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, and a four-speaker sound system. As a step up, the Altima 2.5 S trim level builds upon the base Altima with automatic headlights, keyless ignition and entry, cruise control, and a six-speaker sound system.

The 2.5 SV trim level adds foglights, a power driver's seat with lumbar adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a five-inch touchscreen display.

The Altima 2.5 SL boasts LED tail lights, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. The 2.5 SL trim level also has access to the Convenience and Technology feature packages:

  • The Convenience package includes a sunroof, rear air-conditioning vents, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
  • The Technology package bundles a 7-inch touchscreen, voice controls, and a built-in navigation system.

The 3.5 S mimics the 2.5 SV. The main difference is that it has a more powerful engine and 18-inch alloy wheels. The 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL trim levels are equipped similarly to their Altima 2.5 counterparts.

The 2015 Nissan Altima 3.5SV and 3.5SL comes standard with the above features. Notably, for the 2015 model year, the Altima 3.5 loses its S and SV trim level before the model year closes out, leaving just the 3.5 SL trim commonly available.

Powertrain & Engine

All 2015 Nissan Altimas are built with a CVT paired with the engine. The 2.5 models are powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine. It has 182 horsepower, which is surprisingly agile for its engine class. It's still quite fuel efficient; it marks 27 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. The Altima 3.5 upgrades to a 3.5L V6 engine that pumps the horsepower all the way up to 270. It accelerates to 60 mph in just over six seconds, which is impressive for its class. Fuel economy is a little worse than the former engine; it stands at 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The Nissan Altima is strictly front-wheel drive.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The Nissan Altima has excellent cabin quality. The overall look is upscale and the upholstery is top-notch.

  • The front row is extremely roomy. A driver should have no problem finding their perfect seat angle. The seats are well-shaped and have lumbar support for most trim levels.
  • For backseat passengers, the headroom may feel a bit tight. Similarly, the legroom can feel restrictive for taller adults.
  • The Altima's technology options are expansive. There are a few touchscreen sizes available depending on the trim level and Bluetooth connectivity is available on all cars.
  • The trunk size is fairly standard for family sedans.
