The 2015 Chevy Camaro keeps up the speed
The 2015 Chevy Camaro is the final year for the fifth-generation Camaro, which launched in 2010. Both of its muscle car competitors, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, received major updates in 2015 that ate into the Camaro’s competitive edge by improving their design, performance, technology features, and fuel economy. Still, the Camaro remains engaging to drive, with strong engines and sports-car handling.
The 2015 Camaro is available with a 323-horsepower V6 or a 426-horsepower V8. The Camaro SS is the bread-and-butter muscle-car, and above it sits the track-focused Z/28 and the ZL1, which packs a 580-horsepower supercharged V8. Even compared to its updated rivals, the Camaro has plenty of power, but it also has its issues, including poor visibility, a tiny backseat, and an undersized trunk.

What we like
Acceleration: Starting with 323 horsepower from its standard V6 and going up to 580 horsepower in the supercharged ZL1, the Camaro offers strong engines and quick acceleration in every trim level. Even compared to its updated rivals, the 2015 Camaro is no slouch.
Handling: When it was re-launched in 2010, the Camaro redefined muscle-car handling. While its competitors were updated to close the gap for 2015, the Camaro remains an engaging sports car that’s the match for any twisty road.
High-performance models: Two high-performance variants of the Camaro take its performance to new heights. There’s the race-car-inspired Z/28, designed for track use and packing a massive 7.0-liter V8, and the supercharged ZL1, a street performance machine with 580 horsepower under its hood.
What needs improvement
Usability: Driving a Camaro requires giving up a bit more practicality than other muscle cars. The very cramped backseat and tiny trunk make the vehicle less flexible than its competitors. Visibility from the Camaro’s driver’s seat is also worse than in competitors like the Ford Mustang.
