5 reasons to buy the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
1. New features for this year
There are some really attractive changes to this classic pickup for 2017. Not only is Teen Driver watchdog mode now standard across the entire 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup, but the rearview camera has become standard on all trims from LT upwards. Additionally, low-speed automatic emergency braking has been added as a feature to the Enhanced Driver Alert package, and the plush High Country trim has had the Premium package added as standard. Just when you thought the Silverado couldn’t get any more impressive.
2. V8 engines
One of the best features of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the two V8 engine options, both adding power and improved hauling to the truck. While the standard V6 is enough for daily use and light work, you’ll want one of the V8 options if you need a heavier-duty vehicle. There’s the choice of a 5.3L V8 producing 355 hp, or a 6.2L version producing 420 hp. The 5.3L version also, usefully, has a fuel-saving cylinder deactivation move, allowing it to switch between V8 and V4 modes easily.
3. Towing capability
The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 stands out when it comes to its towing capabilities. The standard V6 engine alone can tow an estimated 7,600 lbs when properly equipped, which is already very impressive.
But if you go for one of the V8 engines, the 5.3L can tow up to an estimated 11,500 lbs when properly equipped, and the 6.2L can tow an estimated 12,000 lbs when properly equipped. It doesn’t get much more powerful than that.4. Quiet, upscale cabin
The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is proof that pickup trucks can be as impressive inside as they are power-wise. The build is impressive – sturdy and able to block out a lot of road noise – and both the bench and bucket seats available in the front are comfortable and adjustable. There are also lots of useful bins, cup holders, and pockets for storage inside the cab, making sure everything has its place when you’re out on the road.
5. Great technology options
Depending on the trim and configuration, there are loads of available features for the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Standard features include a four-speaker stereo, a USB port, and the Teen Driver system. But shop around for different configurations and you’ll find available wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, rear-seat entertainment system, and a seven- or eight-inch touchscreen with MyLink. There are lots of exciting gems to uncover if you keep an eye out for the different types of 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
