The Ford Expedition is a large SUV with lots to love under the hood. A 3.5L turbocharged V6 engine anchors all 2022 models, with most trims making 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque (XL, XLT, and Limited). Opting for the Platinum trim gives you a boost in power, with 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Expedition also offers the V6 engine in a high-output version (standard on Timberline^™ and Stealth Performance Edition trims), generating 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of the trim you choose, all 2022 Expeditions come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is optional for added traction.

2. Versatile capability

Looking for a vehicle with robust towing capabilities and room to accommodate passengers and gear comfortably? The Ford Expedition earns top marks for versatility. When properly equipped, the 2022 Expedition can pull an estimated 9,300 lbs, allowing you to tow a boat, trailer, or camper easily.

 Across three spacious rows, you'll have room for up to eight passengers and 20.9 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seat in the 2022 Expedition (36 cu-ft in MAX versions). The third row also includes a power-folding 60/40 split seat for added convenience.

Timberline models come standard with Ford Trail Control^™, which modifies the SUV's braking and throttle system to provide greater control on rough terrain and steep grades. The trim-topping Platinum offers even more bells and whistles, with a standard 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen display that can be customized with interactive digital cards and personal profiles.

5. Driver-assistance tech

Feel confidently in command behind the wheel of the 2022 Ford Expedition. This large SUV employs a series of sensors and cameras to provide extra support in many driving situations. All 2022 models feature a rearview camera with a washer to enhance visibility when parallel parking or reversing in the driveway. Automatic high-beam headlamps are also standard and provide extra illumination in low-light conditions. Additionally, all models include forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking to alert you of obstacles in your path.
