2020 GMC Yukon brings towing in a tidy package
The 2020 GMC Yukon offers a familiar recipe: Lots of storage, seating for up to nine and ample towing capacity. Its drawbacks are familiar as well: its handling is subpar, it can be a chore to maneuver in parking lots and it's not a tremendous upgrade on its corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Tahoe.
It went virtually unchanged for the 2020 model year in anticipation of a full redesign for the 2021 model year. The truck-based three-row SUV came with two available engines for 2020, both V8s. You'll get plenty of available towing with either engine, but the base engine can be a bit sluggish from a stop. The Ford Expedition may be a better option if towing and storage is your primary concern, and the Tahoe is a good budget option.

What We Like:
Performance: The Yukon is quick to accelerate when equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 and its 10-speed automatic shifts smoothly. It's plenty powerful, with a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds when properly equipped.
Comfort: The seats are comfortable and the cabin is quiet. The climate control is excellent and easy to operate, while the heated seats warm up quickly.
Storage: You get nearly 100 cubic feet of storage when the second and third rows are folded down, which is impressive. Like most things Yukon, car seat anchors are clearly marked, and there's plenty of second-row room for even large car seats.
What Needs Improvement
Fuel Economy: The 17 mpg combined estimated by the EPA is a bit worse than the Ford Expedition (EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined) despite a much worse tow rating.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS banks an EPA-estimated 21 mpg combined.Shop with your budget in mind
