2019 GMC Yukon offers rugged comfort
The 2019 GMC Yukon delivers a rugged exterior and impressive towing capacity. It also boasts seating for up to nine passengers and decent storage. The two available engines, both V8s, are powerful enough for its truck-like tasks, and the SUV comes equipped with four-wheel drive, making the Yukon plenty capable.
But it's not without its flaws. The 2019 Yukon is the corporate sibling of the Chevrolet Tahoe and it doesn't offer much to differentiate it from its less expensive family member. It's also not particularly economical when it comes to storage space or gas mileage. And while the full-size SUV category is thin, the Ford Expedition delivers similar goods a bit more efficiently and with a more upscale interior.
Still, the Yukon is worth a look particularly when in top-tier Denali trim. GMC added the Graphite Edition package to its SLT trim for 2019, the only significant change for the model year. That package is a blackout treatment that also adds 22-inch wheels to the SUV.

What We Like:
Comfort: The front seats are comfortable and the cabin is quiet, even at highway speeds. Ride comfort is also improved on models with the optional adaptive suspension. The climate control system is excellent; the Yukon uses a straightforward, three-zone system that's easy to use and allows passengers to control their own temperature.
Interior: Passengers in the first two rows have plenty of room to move around and getting into and out of the vehicle is easy thanks to wide door openings. The controls are easy to use throughout the cabin and finding a comfortable driving position is not difficult.
Driving: The Yukon's acceleration and handling is impressive given its size. Yes, it's a big and heavy SUV, but it gets up to freeway speeds relatively quickly and can make most turns without feeling uneasy.
What Needs Improvement
Driver Aids: GMC does not equip the Yukon with many standard driver aids; to get most of the features you want requires hunting down an SUV at the highest end of the trim level, like the Denali. Even those available, like the rearview camera, aren't of a high quality.
