GMC Yukon is a luxury-lite SUV
The 2015 GMC Yukon was fully redesigned and is a solid choice for shoppers looking for a three-row SUV with stout towing capabilities. With available seating for up to nine and, when properly equipped, towing capacity that exceeds 8,000 pounds, the Yukon is a do-it-all truck-based luxury-lite SUV. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. The GMC is sandwiched between its corporate cousins, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade.
But for all its available seats and towing prowess, the Yukon comes with a few flaws. Its cargo capacity is lacking compared to many crossover SUVs and even to some of its truck-based SUV competition, thanks to a high-load floor. Its handling is also distinctly truck-like; so those who don't need all the brawn the Yukon has to offer might be better off looking for a crossover instead.
If a tow-ready SUV is required, the Toyota Sequoia and Ford Expedition remain dependable alternatives because of their roomier third rows. The Yukon, despite its redesign, does not have an adult-friendly third row.

What We Like
Utility: You can get a Yukon with four-wheel drive, room for nine passengers and, when properly equipped, towing capacity that exceeds 8,000 pounds.
This is an incredibly capable SUV. That utility is accessible no matter which powertrain your Yukon comes with, though getting the upgrade 6.2-liter V8 makes for a smoother drive thanks to the improved transmission.Interior: The Yukon has high-quality materials throughout the interior and is a notable improvement on previous generations. It's easy to read the gauge clusters and the large, central infotainment cluster is a breeze to navigate. Smartphone integration is standard, which is also new for this year.
Performance: Both V8 engines are plenty powerful and generate more than 350-horsepower while also providing quiet highway rides. Fuel efficiency is expectedly low but is respectable compared to the competition, earning 18 miles combined per gallon according to the EPA.
What Needs Improvement
Cargo Capacity: Many crossovers, and even other three-row SUVs like the Expedition and Sequoia, have better cargo capacity than the Yukon. The 2015 redesign included a new third-row seat that folds into the floor, a notable improvement for the new generation, but one that costs some storage capacity.
