Standard V8 power is on tap for the 2022 Jaguar F-Type coupe or convertible
Striking in design, the 2022 Jaguar F-Type is a styling statement that’s hard to tear your eyes away from. For the 2022 model year, the V6 is gone and a supercharged V8 is the only engine. Unfortunately, the V8 has lost a bit of power compared to previous years. Still, it offers excellent performance and a rich soundtrack.
The F-Type comes with most of the creature comforts you’d expect from a luxury sports car, including driver assist systems that include automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist. The audio system sounds good when connected through USB, and the interior, though small, has comfortable seats and a high-quality feel and layout.
When it comes to actual sports-car duties, however, the Jag comes up a little short next to some rivals. It’s definitely quick, but other cars are quicker. The car feels heavy, and the steering and suspension aren’t as dialed in as you might find in a similar Porsche 911 or Chevrolet Corvette. Topping it off is a frustratingly complicated infotainment system that feels dated.

What We Like:
Exterior and interior style: Since its introduction in 2014, the Jaguar F-Type has been a striking car to look at. The clean design strikes a classic long-hood stance, and whether coupe or convertible it stands out. The same is true for the interior, which uses materials and high build quality that are spot-on for the car’s mission of conveying two people in a sporty luxury.
Cargo space: The F-Type Coupe has a total cargo area of 14.4 cu-ft, which is surprisingly large for a two-seat sports car. It can carry overnight bags for weekend getaways and has plenty of space for groceries and other mundane tasks.
Day-to-day livability: While calling a two-seat sports car “practical” may sound strange, the F-Type is a perfectly suitable daily driver, as long as you don’t need more passenger space. There’s plenty of cargo room, and even though there’s lots of power, the Jag never feels muscle-bound or difficult to drive because of it. The ride is stiff, but that’s part of the bargain of driving a sports car after all.
What Needs Improvement
Infotainment tech: The Jaguar F-Type has a modern infotainment system, at least from the spec sheet. There’s smartphone integration, Bluetooth® music streaming, and so on. But the system itself is buggy, and even simple tasks such as pairing a phone over Bluetooth or USB are more complicated than they are in other cars.
