The Jaguar XF is sporty and sophisticated
The Jaguar XF is a suave and sophisticated midsize luxury sedan that competes directly with rivals like the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, and Lexus ES. That’s some tough competition, yet the XF holds its own thanks to its elegant exterior, spacious interior, refined ride quality, and wide range of powertrain configurations.
Beginning with the 2019 model year, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder arrives as the XF’s new entry-level engine. Depending on your chosen state of tune, it produces 247 or 296 horsepower. There is also a 180-hp 2.0-liter turbo diesel four or a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 available with 340- or 380 horsepower. Every engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic, and each is offered in rear- or all-wheel-drive format.
Also new for 2018 is the arrival of the sleek XF Sportbrake station wagon, which comes exclusively with the most powerful V6 and AWD.

What We Like
Agility: The XF has quick reflexes that make it very enjoyable to drive. The handling is accurate and nicely matched to a suspension that’s on the firm side, but not punishing when you encounter bumps and ruts in the road.
Engine lineup: The XF spoils you with engine choices. The diesel delivers the best fuel mileage, though the new base turbo-four gas engine is peppy and still relatively frugal at the fuel pump. Of course, the speed of the supercharged V6 in either of its two states of tune is also pretty tempting.
Interior space, trunk volume: The XF is a sport sedan that doesn’t skimp on passenger room or cargo space. Adults will be comfortable no matter where they’re seated, and the 16.1-cubic-foot trunk is ample for luggage-laden vacations. Need even more space? The XF Sportbrake’s trunk measures in at approximately 31 cubic feet.
What Needs Improvement
Infotainment system: No matter if you choose the standard eight-inch or optional 10.2-inch touchscreen, the XF’s infotainment system is prone to bogging down and freezing between menus.
