About the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox
Are you looking for an SUV sized right for your active lifestyle that also has extra room in the back for friends, your sports gear, and shopping trips? Check out the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox with two rows of seating, a versatile cargo compartment, and an efficient yet powerful engine. Standard front-wheel drive easily handles the tight turns of city streets, or look for a model equipped with all-wheel drive for when you spend time wandering over graveled roads or through snowy commutes. The six-speed automatic transmission is paired to either the 2.4L four-cylinder base engine, or opt for the 3.6L V6 engine that churns out 301 hp for an athletic drive. The second-row sliding seats let you select between extra storage space or room for your friend's long legs. For those hunting for a more luxurious ride, the LTZ trim delivers driver memory, leather seats, and a kicking 250-watt surround sound system.

The 2013 Chevrolet Equinox sits in the middle of the second generation that ran from model year 2010 through 2017. The compact SUV rolled out with two engine packages starting with the 182-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine that achieves an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined when matched with the standard front-wheel drive.1 If you desire some added zip for tackling your chores, there is also a 3.6L V6 churning out 301 hp. Its clever sliding second row can be moved forward or back to add legroom or storage space when you need it most. Available roof rails give you a place to secure skis or surfboards. The tire pressure monitoring system alerts you when you need to add a little air and displays the psi reading for each wheel.
Find the right mix of comfort and performance in your Equinox when you select from its four trim levels including the LS, 1LT, 2LT, and the LTZ. Pack up for fun in the LS and utilize its power side mirrors with blind spot mirrors, cruise control, Bluetooth® connection for hands-free calling, and a power driver's seat. Find a few extra perks in the 1LT with its roof rails, heated side mirrors, a backup camera, and seven-inch touchscreen/infotainment center. The 2LT adds a variety of premium amenities including heated front seats, automatic climate control, fog lamps, available remote engine start, and a Pioneer® sound system.2 Finally, the LTZ delivers of comfort and convenience with leather-appointed seats, a driver memory system, the power programmable liftgate, and lane departure warning and parking assist.
If you are seeking premium options, a power moonroof, rear seat entertainment system, and a SiriusXM® radio with traffic and navigation were offered on the top trims when the vehicle was sold as new.3 Is it a little bling that you want? The standard wheels are 17-inch aluminum with 18 and 19-inch versions offered as part of the LTZ trim with the upgraded engine.

Reviews for 2013 Chevrolet Equinox
Perfect all-around entry-level SUV
This vehicle is very comfortable and easy to drive. If you have driven any other late model Chevrolet you will feel right at home. It slightly longer than other SUVs in the same class, which gives the rear passengers more room (along with the adjustable seat which helps as well). I've seen other reviewers complain about lack of power, but the Equinox has plenty. I noticed a slight drop in power after filling it with $1,000 worth of IKEA furniture, but it still handled well on the interstate. If you're comparing it to a larger SUV with a powerful V6 (or even V8) then yes, it doesn't have that much power. It's all about perspective. Comparable gas mileage to other SUVs in the same class.
- Ride and Handling: The ride is smoother than larger SUVs, but still firm enough to give you a solid, in-control feel.
- Interior Space: Surprisingly roomy for a smaller SUV (in head room, leg room, and arm room) for both front and rear passengers.
- Seat Comfort: Firm, but not too firm, contoured seats provide a comfortable, yet supported feel. Not as fatiguing or painful on long trips as some vehicles.
Does Everything I Need
This is a wonderful vehicle, as long as you can afford to keep gas in it. The ride and handling are almost sports car like, and there is more than enough room for my needs. The interior is downright beautiful, reminds one a lot of a Camaro, but not as fast of course. Definitely worth considering if you don't mind the fuel cost.
- Power: Fast for an SUV!
- Cargo Space: Plenty of room for my needs, and then some.
- Styling: Good looking vehicle.
- Fuel Economy: Not thsat great, more like a V8 than a V6 - but plenty of zip!
Carmax Outperformed Themselves Once Again
The Chevy Equinox is well designed for comfort and style. I've gotten lots of compliments from friends & family - you will too. Give one a try! Car Shop like I did. In the comfort of your own home. Go online to Carmax.com, pick out the car you like, have it delivered to your local Carmax dealer and when it arrives they'll call you to come look it over. Can't ask for better service than that....(Thanks Carmax!!)
- Ride and Handling: Smooth and comfortable to drive.
- Seat Comfort: Lots of seat adjustments designed for the driver & passengers. Can't go wrong!
- Technology and Entertainment: Love the voice & touch screen radio as well as the backup camera.
- Fuel Economy: Doesn't match the fuel economy posted on the tags. I've kept a running total of every fill up so far. All total I average 24mpg HWY/City....Not Bad! Just not close to what's posted on the tags.
