2016 Nissan Altima Overview

The 2016 Nissan Altima received a facelift after its sleek, new redesign in 2007. With either of its engine options, the Altima is surprisingly quick and peppy while delivering class-leading fuel efficiency. The Altima is an excellent choice for those who appreciate crisp, responsive handling.

Features & Specs

The Nissan Altima offers a wide range of features. It comes with full set of power accessories, such as locks, windows and mirrors, as well as keyless entry and cruise control. Also included in the 2016 Altima are air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and an audio system with CD player. Higher trims include improved sound systems, dual-zone climate control, power moonroof and voice-activated navigation system.

Design & Performance

The The Altima is Nissan's midsize sedan with an expertly-tuned suspension and quick steering. It recently underwent a redesign in 2013 that resulted in a larger, sturdier body and few changes under the hood. The Nissan Altima has five different trim varieties: base 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SE, 2.5 SL, and 3.5 SL. The external difference between each trim level lies only in tires, but each features different feature packages to accentuate the spacious cabin.

Powertrain & Engine

Standard versions of the Altima are powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine. The 2016 Nissan Altima supports an upgrade to the 3.5L V6 engine under the hood, making it more powerful than its competitors in the same segment and model year. When the V6 is paired with the six-speed manual transmission, the vehicle can feel sportier than expected. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is also available to swap in. No matter the transmission, the engines produce fuel economy that's nearly identical.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

After its redesign in 2013, the Nissan Altima's body grew to be a lot larger, though it was still a little lighter than previous iterations. As a result, the 2016 Altima's cabin space has improved greatly. The Altima is comfortable and has cabin controls that are integrated well into the 2016 Altima's array of features. Additionally, for the 2016 model year, the Nissan Altima received a facelift to include new front and rear bumpers, headlamps and taillamps.
