The 2018 Subaru Outback earns high praise for its versatility, reliability, and safety features. Customers appreciate its smooth handling and all-weather capability but criticize the infotainment system and seat comfort. With strong fuel economy and ample cargo space, it’s ideal for families and adventurers despite mixed sentiments about its styling and maintenance costs.
The car is extremely smooth to handle and it drives very well in the rain and heavy weather. It’s a lot of fun to drive and I will take the longer way places to be in the car a little longer.
I was impressed by the power the car has. especially since the fuel mileage has proven to be very good.
It’s roomier than I thought it would be and with a small child that trunk space is doing some serious work.
Sometimes my phone has issues connecting with the car. Resetting the information system occasionally has fixed it.
Plenty of room for cargo and for all of the passengers.
It is a nice ride. Quiet and comfy. Easy to park and to see out of.
I love all of the safety features and Android Auto. For the year, it comes with so many features that were really important to me.
We would like it if it had a little more power for passing and getting up to speed, but most of the time it has plenty and saves us on gas.
I have taken these cars in all conditions from snowy forest service roads in the cascades to sand to gravel roads to wet roads. If you have quality tires, you do not need to worry. And you can still get above 30mpg on the highway. I get 35.
It is not one giant screen, there are nobs and buttons which is nice. Steering wheel has just enough to not make it overwhelming and feel like a normal wheel.
I have owned Subarus since I was 16. They are great if you keep up with maintenance.
The drivers seat had a rip in it which became into a giant gash which was easy to fix with leather tape. But my 2004 tundra with leather seats has held up better and has 250,000 miles. Just poorer quality of materials in newer cars.
The lane assist, automatic reverse braking, basically all new safety features in new Subarus are annoying. But it is a good peace of mind.
Subaru is probably the most expensive Japanese car brand to maintain.
