Generation Overview

The 2019 Toyota Highlander is the final production year for the third generation of this midsized crossover three-row SUV. Designed for the growing family, it is powered by the 3.5 DOHC V6 engine with 295 hp, a direct-shift eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. The entry-level LE trim does provide a 2.7L four-cylinder engine with 185 hp married to a six-speed automatic transmission, but it lessens fuel economy compared to the V6, earning an EPA-estimated 24 mpg highway.1 The Hybrid pairs the 3.5L engine with its electric motor and increases combined hp to 306. A power liftgate is featured on all trims except the LE and also includes a flip-up rear hatch window that makes accessing your cargo a snap when you are loaded up to the top.

Which trim is right for you? Five trims are offered on the gas version 2019 Highlander including the LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, and Limited. The Hybrid offers the LE, XLE, and Limited. Your base trim starts with manual seats and air conditioning, USB ports for first and second rows, Bluetooth connectivity, and a backup camera. The LE Plus upgrades you to the V6 engine, fog lights, automatic climate control, and a power driver seat. The XLE brings on the look and feel of luxury with chrome exterior appointments, leather-trimmed seats, a smart key system, and an intercom for the driver. Sporting style is included on the SE with black light bezels, dark roof rails, a sport suspension, second-row captain's chairs, and black leather seats with red trim. Top out your ride with heated and ventilated front seats, a chrome grille and 19-inch wheels, blind spot detection, and a rear sonar sensor system.

A rear entertainment system featuring a nine-inch HD display, Blu-ray® player, and compatibility with wireless headphones is offered in an additional package for the XLE trim and higher. A Platinum Package adds a panoramic moonroof, rain-sensing wipers, a Bird's Eye View camera, and second-row heated seats to the Limited trims.
