The truth is that there’s no better way to carry a bunch of people and their stuff than a van. The 2016 Honda Odyssey is an 8-passenger minivan that’s comfortable, roomy, and versatile. With its handy second-row seats, smooth and relatively efficient V6, and useful features ranging from a simple holder for a trash bag to a built-in vacuum cleaner, the 2016 Odyssey has a lot to offer family-oriented shoppers. Its most notable weaknesses are the lack of AWD, available on competitors like the Toyota Sienna, and the limited availability of advanced driver aids.
For 2016, the Odyssey added a Special Edition trim which included high-level features like the HondaVAC™ built-in vacuum and rear-seat entertainment system in a package otherwise equipped like the more affordable EX trim.

Good to drive: The Odyssey has more going for it on the road than you might expect. Its V6 engine delivers plenty of power, and the transmission handles shifts smoothly. The Odyssey’s handling inspires confidence, and the steering feels quick and precise. While it’s not the quickest minivan, it’s one of the best to drive.
Family-friendly design: With a really versatile interior, the Odyssey is really designed to handle family duties. The second row can fit three child seats, and the middle seat can slide forward to put children in easy reach of the front seats. Available features like a trash bag holder and a built-in vacuum cleaner can help keep the interior a bit less messy, and the rear-seat entertainment system can display two inputs at once to make the interior a bit more peaceful.
Fuel-efficient: The Odyssey’s V6 has good fuel efficiency compared to other gas-powered minivans. It’s EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined gives it a slight edge against competitors.
Lacks driver aids: The 2016 Honda Odyssey only offers some basic driver aids, and they’re not available across the whole range. Forward collision warning and lane-departure warning are left off the base LX and EX trims, and blind-spot monitoring is only standard on the Touring Elite. If you’re looking for features like automatic emergency braking or rear cross-traffic alert, look elsewhere.
