If you want to comfortably move up to eight people, the 2021 Honda Odyssey offers the practicality and flexibility you need. It’s also good to drive, and in higher trim levels it’s loaded with technology and comfort features. For 2020, Honda made a few small updates to the Odyssey’s looks, but those aren’t the most important changes that carry over to 2021. Driver aids, including automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, are now standard on all trim levels. Additionally, the second row seats have been slimmed down a bit to fold flatter and make them easier to remove.
The Odyssey’s main weaknesses carry on: All-wheel drive is unavailable, and there’s no hybrid option. In comparison, the 2021 Toyota Sienna offers both. And while the second-row seats are easier to remove now, the Chrysler Pacifica has a second row that folds flat into the floor to provide maximum cargo space.

Practical interior: The Odyssey offers a lot of versatility for people and things. The configurable second row has three independently sliding seats that can be adjusted forward, backward, and side-to-side. This lets you keep kids in easy reach of the front seats, but not of each other, and gives easier third-row access. There’s also tons of storage for everything from purses to water bottles.
Lots of tech: Moving up through the 2021 Odyssey’s trim levels, you get oodles of tech. In higher trims, there’s a camera system that lets you check in on rear passengers, and a rear-seat entertainment system to keep them entertained. USB ports are available for the second and third rows, along with lots of phone connectivity options. Best of all, advanced driver aids are now standard equipment.
Good to drive: The Odyssey’s V6 engine has plenty of power for merging and passing maneuvers. Steering is quick and precise, and the Odyssey offers top-notch handling for a minivan without sacrificing ride comfort. This is one of the nicest minivans to drive.
Max-cargo flexibility: In order to access the Odyssey’s maximum cargo capacity, you’ll have to remove the second row seats from the vehicle. Honda made this easier to do for 2021, but the Chrysler Pacifica offers seats that fold into the floor. Also, there’s no power-folding option for the third row.
