The 2017 Honda Odyssey has a lot to offer families. The interior is roomy and easy to access, and the configurable second row seats are wide enough for three child seats. There are lots of comfort and convenience upgrades on higher trims, from rear-seat entertainment to a built-in vacuum cleaner. And the Odyssey is pleasant to drive, with good acceleration from its relatively fuel-efficient V6 engine.
There are a few weaknesses compared to other minivans. The Odyssey doesn’t offer all-wheel drive, like the Toyota Sienna. Driver aids are also limited, and mostly only available on higher trim levels. The Odyssey has a lot to offer in terms of practicality and comfort, but may not be the best pick if driver aids or winter driving are important to you.

Good to drive: You get plenty of power from the Odyssey’s V6 engine. Combined with the precise steering and stable handling, the Odyssey is a minivan you won’t mind experiencing from the driver’s seat. Overall one of the best minivans to drive.
Family-friendly design: The second row is wide enough to fit three car seats, and the sliding center seat can move forward to keep kids in easier reach. The center console’s trash bag holder and the available built-in HondaVAC™ vacuum cleaner make for easier cleanup. Higher trims come equipped with a DVD player and 16-inch rear seat screen that can display two sources at once.
Fuel-efficient: The Odyssey’s V6 engine offers an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined, which makes the Odyssey a fuel-efficient choice for a gas-powered minivan.
Lacks driver aids: The 2017 Honda Odyssey has limited access to some driver aids that were becoming commonplace by 2017. Forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring are only available on the EX-L, Touring, and Touring Elite trim levels. Blind-spot monitoring is only included on the Touring Elite. Automatic emergency braking isn’t offered for 2017, nor is rear cross-traffic alert or adaptive cruise control.
