Audi freshens up 2013 Q5, adds a hybrid to lineup
Successful as Audi is with the big-selling Q5, it's given the range a refresh for the 2013 model year, with some design tweaks inside and out. The equipment and powertrains also see some revisions. The impressive 211-hp 2.0T turbocharged four-cylinder engine remains the entry point to the Q5, but the previous 3.2-liter V6 has been replaced by a 3.0-liter V6 with a supercharger. Its 272 hp and standard eight-speed automatic add some real performance to the range. If you're looking for more efficiency-minded performance, Audi has added a hybrid. The new Q5 Hybrid mates an electric motor to the 2.0T engine for a 245-hp output and improved EPA mpg figures. All-wheel drive is standard.
Trim levels are much the same, with 2.0T Premium, 2.0T Premium Plus, 3.0T Premium Plus, 3.0T Prestige, and Hybrid Prestige offered. Options for the Premium include a panoramic sunroof, an iPod® interface, and Bluetooth® connectivity. Those features come standard with the Premium Plus, along with a power tailgate and LED running lights, making it worth seeking out. Option packages are also offered. Of note, the S line adds a sportier look and an adaptive suspension for an improved driving experience.
